Did anyone notice that when we had our single-back personnel in against Idaho State we often sent the running back to play at the widest receiving position? We must've shown that look 6-8 times last weekend. It's not something I've seen us do with any regularity since the Taiwan Jones years. Have we been doing that much this year and I just didn't notice?

I'm concerned that this might be a reactionary move to the fact Sblendorio (and Hill) was out and the other guys not named Bourne or Kupp have struggled this year. Kupp was moved into the slot receiver position a lot last week, which is normally reserved for our short yardage offense. If Kupp's moving inside, I assume that means Grady will be outside. It would really serve us well to get him playing a little better if Sblendorio is going to miss much time.

McPherson and Williams catch the ball well and have speed/YAC capability. Agree it's time for Grady to step up, he is talented, tall, agile and should win battles over the top of smaller corners all day. Think Zach Eagle can produce if used as a Welker type guy. Guessing some of this is driven by trust. Hard to see the routes etc on these broadcasts. Can't read Coach B's mind, but given the impression, as you, that some of what we are doing this season is reactionary vs. scheme/next man up. "Felt" like we were trying to beat teams at their own game instead of playing our game. Not very empirical. All that said, like what I see on D and special teams have improved since UNI. Go Eags.

Remember, coach Hill is calling the plays this year, so I think that has lead to some of the differences we are starting to see. I think it is quite noticeable.

I keep forgetting and you are correct; it is VERY noticeable the play calling is different to the point of being static. Growing pains.
