One can kinda tell what the future divisions will look like from the schedule...I'm thinking Idaho is going to be returning to the fold.

"The Big Sky Conference has released its football schedules for the 2012-2015 seasons, the first four that will feature a 13-team, one-division format."

"All Big Sky teams will continue to play eight conference games with four at home and four on the road. Each team will have two “rivals” it will play each season. Over the course of the four years, each Big Sky team will play each other a minimum of two times."

"Although teams will play just eight conference games, Big Sky schools will also have the option to schedule league members in non-conference games. For example, Montana and North Dakota were already scheduled to play a non-conference game in 2013 in Grand Forks. That will remain a non-conference game."

Should be:
Oct. 18 @ Montana St
Oct. 25 Portland St

I love this format. I think it will result in the BSC getting three and posibily four teams into post season. It builds on natural rivalries and gives a new mix of conf games each year. Also, if we ever add a 14th team, it will be easy to incorporate them into all of this. I think that the BSC got it right. :notworthy: :notworthy:

Interesting that the Idaho St game will now be the last game of the year, which is when most big rivalry games are played. I wonder if this was requested by the schools. Or maybe the conference just sees this game as one of the conference's best rivalries, or at least wants to try and make it that.

I like it, Rivals should play on rivalry weekend.

I have a feeling Southern Utah and NAU will become bigger rivals than Weber/SUU

On the subject of the charter rivals playing each other every year, they still can. All they would have to do is schedule the games, for instance Weber's 2012 schedule has Montana and Idaho State on it, all they would have to do is schedule Montana State as a non conf game and they will have played the other 3 charter members. I for one like this schedule format

2012- home to Montana @ Idaho State- add @ Montana State
2013- @ Montana, Montana State and Idaho State- we play all 3
2014- @ Idaho State- add @ Montana State and Montana
2015- @ Montana, Idaho State- add Montana State

WORKS PERFECTLY

"Two Big Sky teams who aren't slated to meet each other in a conference game in a given year can still schedule each other in games that won't count in the Big Sky standings.

It's probable that will happen at Weber State, Bovee said, given the challenge of creating non-league schedules that fit its financial needs and travel requirements.

'If you look at the geographic footprint of the Big Sky, we take up a huge chunk of America,' Bovee said. 'That's definitely got to be an option just from a purely economic standpoint."

Conference teams Weber can schedule as non-conference games:

2012 - Montana St, Portland St, N Arizona, N Dakota
2013 - UC Davis, N Colorado, N Arizona, N Dakota
2014 - E Wash, UC Davis, Sac St, Montana
2015 - Cal Poly, Sac St, Montana St, Portland St

It would be nice to see Weber schedule non-conference games with fellow charter member MSU (2012 and 2015) and get another home game versus UM in 2014.

I love the way the conference handled the schedule, looks great to me especially knowing how good the teams in this conference are going to be.

The Fresno State game for 2012 was dropped when FSU joined the Mountain West Conference. I doubt it will be rescheduled. But FSU does need to add some games in 2012.

If we can't play Fresno, let's take another trip to Hawaii.....we were winning in the first half the last game we played them... we showed real good against their Spread offense.... just a thought :)
