Future OOC games

It was announced this morning that Weber will open the 2014 season at Arizona State of the PAC-12 Conference and that it will play a home and home with Sac State that will not count toward the Big Sky Schedule. Both games will be played in September, with the Cats visiting the Hornets next year and the Hornets returning to Ogden in 2015. The Big Sky schools will return to playing each other in conference in 2016.

Weber will still add one more game in 2014 for 12.

Disappointed that we scheduled against another Big Sky foe--even if it's not a conference game. I'd like to see some more non-Big Sky teams come to Stewart Stadium occasionally.

I agree, however, I would play Sac State over any FBS team any day, Also like to keep some of our conf rivalry series' going, We ended a couple really good ones last year, (NAU,PSU) (yes I know we are playing PSU this year).

I would like to see games vs other conferences though, and it's gonna get harder with more of them making the stupid move of moving up, but for now, Sacramento State will do nicely.

Yay, 7 roads again next year :ohno: , at least only one will be against FBS

I know the ideal situation would be 6 FCS games at home, and 6 FCS games on the road. However, would anybody prefer a 6 game home schedule if it included a division II school, such as Dixie State? It just doesn't seem like smart scheduling to have only 5 games at home versus 7 on the road.

Sept 6th looks like a good day for a home game, hopefully maybe we can get another FCS team to fill that slot, but I do have a feeling it will be a DII team.

I wonder if there are any FCS teams with openings Sept 6th?

here is my opinion of ooc games:

1. 1 money game: only 1 fbs no matter what

2. no more games that don't "count": never ever play a non DI unless we are just going to give up on playoff hopes or the program is rock bottom and we are starting over.

3. more big sky ooc: i actually prefer big sky ooc games. i would rather play 11 big sky teams if it was possible. big sky teams are the only games i look forward to over the years except for the recent yrs we have had some better ooc fcs opponents. many of the fcs are too far away, too expensive to play them. it must not be feasible. the entire western US is the big sky. so it is hard to find these opponents in fcs to play. it just makes more sense to play big sky ooc games. when i see no griz on the schedule that tells me we should be getting more big sky teams on the schedule.

we can't all play san diego.

the good news:

2014 and on we can expect 10 realistic games that are fcs playoff qualifiers since the committee expects/recommends 7 wins. we have better schedules coming so we just need the team to be ready. we also have facilities in place to sustain a good program thanks to the mac era.

I, totally agree with what you are saying catcat. We are on the verge of becoming a solid football program at our level. We now need to start setting up our schedule to make a run at the playoffs each year. What you have suggested is the best way to do that. Hopefully, one FBS game per year is enough to get us the additional revenue each year. Two or three teams should go to the playoffs each year. We need to be one of them most of the time. :coffee:

:+1: :+1:

I like the OOC games vs Sacramento State in the next few years, if we cant get anybody other than Big Sky foes to play for OOC games, so be it. Why dont we try getting Eastern Washington to Stewart Stadium next year? we dont play them in 2014

And lets do something gutsy in 2015 and have 6 HOME games and only 5 roadies, lets get Cal Poly to come to Stewart Stdium in 2015.
