Future Schedules

what D1 teams would you like to see Weber play in the future?
I'm pulling for Utah State, UNLV, and San Diego St.

I'd love to play Utah again, that was a fun game and the Ute fans were really nice. But I guess I'd rather go for some teams we might have a chance at such as Utah St, Wyo, UNLV, New Mex St, San Diego St, Idaho.

I'd really like to see Utah State face up and play us... Nice job scheduling the T-Birds. Maybe San Jose State or Boise State again... Yes, BSU would most likely destroy the Cats, but it was a pretty good rivalry during the Sky years. If not football...Weber and Boise should play each other in basketball every year.

I'm pulling for Gary Andersen to turn around USU, but i'm afraid it's a losing battle up there. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop down to FCS.

Ya no doubt...we'll see what he can do in the next few yrs. I honestly wonder though if USU would actually drop football than go to FCS.

Too bad we haven't played em last yr or this upcoming yr!!

In all honesty they have belonged in the Big sky for years, they would be a great fit. Good basketball team, good facilities, and the only way in hell their football team will ever have a chance at a winning season. but I feel the ego or "pride" in Logan would demand they drop football before they join the Big Sky.

If they had any pride they would have dropped years ago when the NCAA threatened them for a lack of attendance at the FB games.

Not sure what year that was, but it was before they were in the WAC. They should have just tucked their tails and dropped down.

Yes...and wouldn't it be sad to see them drop down and then lose to Weber, UM, MSU, then lose to BYU & Utah in OOC and finish the season 5-3 and 7-5 overall in FCS lol.

How come you guys haven't started playing Dixie now that they are DII?

Actually we played em for the first time in 2008. I'd love to see us play em in hoop too, I noticed Utah and UNLV both did season before last.

I miss SUU though, this will be our 4th season since our last game. That's a shame.

WSU/Dixie box score:

It was pretty cool, Dixie's coach is a former Weber player and I believe he was honored even at the game. He also coached Ricks College back when it was a JC football powerhouse.

The bad thing about Dixie is I don't think they will ever see the same sucess they did on the field as a JUCO.

I wouldn't be surprised after they finish up their partnership with the U that they don't upgrade their facilities and possibly make the jump to FCS. The only issue I see with that is SUU, there has always been that big brother complex in Cedar City about Dixie and St. George. I think they would fight it, as they would be in a dog fight for recruits.

Honestly, I really want to see Weber play SUU every season, but I'd rather see a USU/WSU game, but once again the Logan pride wont allow it. Oh well...I don't see USU drop down to FCS any time soon. I think we'd all see Idaho or New Mexico State drop down before USU. Also, with UVU talking about going adding football (most likely FCS or DII) and Dixie talking about becoming FCS I think Weber, along with SUU, would fight any jumps for either team to the FCS ranks because of recruiting. There isn't enough athletes in Utah to support 7 DI (FBS 3 FCS 4) teams.

i don't see how they could stop it though, UVU maybe but DSU no. They have a different fan base down there and also could draw from more of the smaller AZ and NV towns because of the location.

As far as recruiting goes, I don't think it would be a big deal. Weber is frequently beating out USU on football recruits. The players go where they like the coach, and feel they have a good chance for success and playing time.

i don't think that's going to be the case anymore with Gary Anderson running things up there.

I think we need our shot at utah state for sure!! I think a game against byu would be special also. does anyone know if we will be playing either of these teams anytime soon?
