i love this guy. He is so confident in his abilities & you combine that with a kid who's been putting extra hours in the gym & i think we've got another great one who's poised to lead the Wildcats. To think he lost his Father in an industrial accident at the beginning of the season (whom he was close to & was the the parent he was raised & lived with) he's been able to block that out some how & really improve his game this season.

16 NBA scouts last night...

I've heard there is no Freshman who has been prouder to be a Wildcat & wear a Weber State jersey than G.

Things i've noticed lately, he started chest bumping starters are called out during starting lineup intros. Getting them pumped a little.

He was the first one to go hug Mike Brown when he hit the 3 at the buzzer against PSU. Mike hasn't played much.

He was the first one to get in Hickert's face after he clobbered Fulton's head to the basketball standard on the breakaway against EWU. He got T' up, but I love that he's got his teammates.

Couldn't agree more, I think he is quicker than Lillard as well, if he can keep improving his shot and bulk up a little he has a great chance to be the next all-star player for Weber State.

Gelaun has really improved his game as the season has gone on. I'm a huge fan of Wheelwright. He is a high energy guy who has really bought into the program. Even on the bench he is jumping around getting excited. He brings a lot of energy off the bench. It'll be fun to watch he, Brown, and Rich in the future. It is kinda sad that Brown, now in hindsight, wasn't redshirted. I'm sure coach, if he was aware of all the issues that would plague this team before the season started, would have redshirted Brown.

I noticed this about Gelaun at the St. Mary's game. We were sitting behind the bench and I kept seeing this kid jump off the bench cheering for the team and I said to myself 'he is one hyper kid'. I asked Dame about him and he said he's always like that. He gets excited in practice. I, too, like how his game has improved over the course of the season! I like the little tandem of he and Damian too in the UT-Arlington game. I think Rahe has made me a Weber fan for years to come! Great recruiting!

I loved what he did after the Fulton foul. I love a kid who will stand up for his mates, even when he is much smaller.

Lurch, I mean coach BJ, was none to pleased with Wheelwright talking a little smack after hitting his third three last night. On the broadcast you could hear him yelling at the ref to shut him up.

Im glad that Wheelright is now into the team and having alll this energy. I watched him before a game early in the season walk right pass chris gold as chris was trying to talk to him and not say a word. I also know someone in one of his classes and he was making fun of the teacher in class. Now its this huge turn around where he is chest bumping and smiling and having fun. He has that ability to turn into not just a good player but a great player!

Also does anyone think that Mike Brown could be the next Nick Hansen? Nick was a pretty decent threat from deep and I think mike may get that with more playing time in years to come

I think Mike looks a little like Nick. It's pretty awesome . I wonder if the Wizard of Weber has a cloning machine behind "The Curtain."

As for the development of the players, I see improvement in all of them. We have an incredible recruiting ability with this coaching staff to find talent and good citizen/student atheletes.I am very proud of this team and see a lot of ability, passion, and chemistry. You can have the best talented players on the court but, there is NO substitute for playing with a family...if you catch the way I have drifted.

GOOO WILDCATS!

Wheelwright hit some big threes in the first half against UNC too... if he can really develop that part of his game (like Lillard has done over the course of his career), the sky is the limit. There was one play against UNC where I think Bullinger got the steal, and Wheelwright raced ahead for the outlet... and Wheelwright was easily the fastest guy out there. He has a huge motor.

Looked like a seasoned vet last night. Probably would & should have been the Freshman of the year had he not Redshirted the first month. Especially the way he's played the last month.

As much as i'm going to miss Lillard (the time is now, to ring the cash register :twocents:), Wheelwright, Bamforth, & Berry will be one Dynamic starting guard line. Yikes, potent offensively for sure.

Weberski, don't forget Richardson, he has run point in the past and is one of the best lock-down defenders with the speed to keep opposing guards tied up. He also can shoot the long ball.

Good luck tonight, and the future is bright for upcoming Wildcat teams.

Agreed...Richardson hasn't logged a bunch of mins because of how much upside Wheels has, and also, Lillard is going to play 35+ mins a game. Nevertheless, he is one athletic guy. He has shown us fans how much potential he has offensively (UNCO last year, and Mayville St. this year), and we all know he can close down opposing teams guards at anytime. He is a solid ball handler, and with more time, I feel he will become one of the top guards in the Big Sky. Weber's role players, and I'm not trying to be a catcat about this, could be starters at other schools.

Brown is another player, who hasn't gotten a lot of time, and in hindsight probably should have been red shirted (if Rahe would have known about the injuries and Fields immaturity I'm sure he would have been), who has a hell of a lot of upside. The kid has a nice stroke and can shoot anywhere on the court. With time, he will become a hell of a leader for the Cats.

The future is bright in Wildcat Country. I know the coaching staff is looking for another wing type of player. They have three or four kids that they are looking at 3 JCs and a Fresh; maybe even more. The Fresh will probably end up here no matter what, most likely, as a preferred walkon (but that is my opinion). Either of the JC's that come will get time automatically and will bring instant offense for the Cats. We all know that Weber has to make up for the loss of 24.5ppg.

J rich isn't just a lock down defender. He's shown that he can nail the tree. hasn't he made 6 in two games in his young career already? When Bam is gone in one year, Weber won't miss a beat having Wheelright and Jrich on the floor at the same time.
