Game Ball?

I didn't get a good look at that play from the stands so it was hard to see what happened on that. did he catch the ball after he had a pass deflection?

My game ball goes to the Offensive Line. I thought they played really well.

I'd be good with the OL getting it. They played well all game. Heck, Vernon's numbers were fairly pedestrian (for him), but he had three LONG TDs dropped that were well-thrown balls. His feet saved us in a couple drives and his arm was clutch in short yardage throws.

On the whole it wasn't a very good first game for either team. Neither us nor them really seemed in synch on either side of the ball. We also benefitted from about 3 ridiculous calls. It seemed like every 50/50 call went our way as well.

Run blocking was probably better than our pass protection (think they got a couple sacks)...but overall, they played well and probably better than I expected. Great production by the backs as well in this game. Warmed my heart to see us run it down their throats to close out that game. Personally, I think Forte deserves the game ball. Not only for his solid production in this game, but the block he put on that defender late in the game. :o

I noticed that they moved Rodgers back out to RT from OG. I know he can play both positions, but was Curtis injured or something?

Seconded! Forte was a beast, and that block was a thing of beauty. Sad to see it isn't one of the highlights on espn.com, but it was the best hit of the game.

Another nominee would have to be Samson Ebukam #91 DL (reminded me of an past #91, Jerry Ceja) who was in the Bearkats backfield either with the sack, TFL , or pressure all game long. Just a sophomore too!

One thing I noticed with Ebukam and all the other ends was that whenever they went with an option to the weak side, our containment was poor. They scored that long TD run because our end and the willy LB were completely caught in no-mans-land. We'll see more mobile QBs in the future and will need to get better with that.

I saw that too. It looked like we were going with two LB's most of the game. Who has containment in that set?

Also, our CB on that side was taken out by a very good block. That was why their QB looked like he was in no-mans-land, just cruising down the sideline.
