Game Changed When Jenkins Was Injured

Not sure the result would've been the same. Would've been interesting to see what EWUs plan would've been in the second half.

The coaches took that risk when they started putting up so many designed QB runs. They didn't even teach the guy to go down before getting hit. That's just the game, I suppose.

I actually think we may have done better had he stayed in. As infuriating as our defensive schemes can be, we tend to make fantastic half time adjustments. I think we have outscored our opponents something to the the tune of 170-6 or some gaudy number like that in the past 6 games during the 3rd quarter. Having a gunslinger come in for the 2nd half pretty much nullified any adaptations we developed in anticipation of facing Jenkins again. Essentially, the d had to start from scratch and adjust on the fly.

+1

I think the outcome would have been different. Our D adjusted to your offensive plays, and the pick6 capped the game off for you. You guys were great, no doubt, but I just think we could have won the game if Jenkins hadn't been injured.

So...D adjustments + jenkins + James - Pick6 = JSU win.

Good luck against Towson...contain West and you guys are headed to the NC game. Congrats!!!

 Well, we are all fans and I disagree. (respectfully) :D You say you would've won, I say we would've still won. It is too bad that Eli got hurt, cause it would have been nice to beat you at full strength. As I was walking out EWU fans and myself gave him some love when he was carted out to the locker rooms. He was nice enough to say thank you. :thumb: Thank you for making the trip and coming to our little part of the world. Fans will be Fans. Good luck next season. I'm sure we will see you in the post season next year. :notworthy: Get 'em Eags!!

Injuries definitely suck, but they are part of the game and as a program we know all about those - even this year.

In 2010 we lost by far our best player on offense during the quarter-finals when we played NDSU. Jones probably accounted for at least half of our offense up to that point that year. We still found a way to win in the semi's and the finals that season.

For many years EWU had very talented teams that made the playoffs that usually lost in the first couple of rounds...what we have seen as fans is the difference that depth makes in making those deep playoff runs. You have to have it, because ultimately there's always going to be injuries to key personnel that you have to overcome.

I wish I was there, as I love Eastern WA area, but watched from my iPhone on ESPN3... Thanks for wishing him well... :thumb: He's a good kid. I like the phrase "fans will be fans" because it's 100% true. Hell, we could sit and have a beer :beer2: and come up with different Bill Broskie stories that would be better than the other, but the truth is that it was a great game  with the score resembling the fact.

If we host next year and you all make the trip down then we'd love to have you tailgate with us...
