George Darling 6'9'' combo big has signed on with us. He is an athletic, talented big man who will need some weight room work to be a steady contributor. He is a good shooter and ball handler. His up side is very high. He simply needs to put on a few pounds of muscle. He has the frame to get it done.

This is a good pick up for us.

A 6'9 guy who can pull off a between the legs dunk. Isn't there some unwritten rule about having more than one European big man on your roster? We need to make sure they play tough inside.

The good news is that if we have to play at Idahos gym that has the crazy lines everywhere he will be used to it. Check out some of these gyms in England he played in.

Looks like you got a good player there...the thing that stands out to me in the video are his hands....he has really soft hands...seems to be able to catch anything he can get a hand on....not a common strength in big guys but a skill that is very important to play on the inside...

He is very raw right now. He has only been playing organized ball for a couple of years and is very thin. He will be hitting the weights and learning the basics for a while. However, his natural ability is off the charts for someone with his background. We're betting that he will put the time in to become a really good player. Now it is on us and him to get that done. Rome wasn't built over night.

How has Sac's recruiting been going?

Looking around the BSC, it looks like a fairly normal recruiting year to me. Those that normally go to the JCs are still doing that, and several schools seem to be looking at drop down transfers. I'm sure that there will be some surprises come fall.

Well, we only lost 2 seniors (Cody Demps and Dreon Barlett) so we had 2 schollys available... we signed George Dancer from Beyer High in Modesto in the early signing period last fall...he tore up his ACL and had surgery, he was averaging over 20 a game and leading his team from the point when the injury occurred... will be rehabbing (red shirting) next year....we signed Chibueze Jacobs 6' 4" 200 lbs from Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks on Wednesday...he was the co-player of the year in the CIF (state) at the 4AA level, averaged 24 pts, 12 reb and shot 57% from the field, 47% from 3 and 80% on fts....he played in arguably the toughest high school league in California as 2 teams from that league went on to win state titles....we also just had Mason Stuteville transfer to Hawaii Pacific, so it seems we may have another scholorship to use...we also get Josh Patton back from his red shirt year.....all in all, I'm pretty happy with this class and it could get better....

Sounds like you really got a steal in the Jacobs kid. I was a bit surprised to see your big kid transfer out. He was a good get coming out of HS. I'm not sure what to expect out of Patton. The only thing I heard about Patton was that he is a good shooter that needed to toughen up a bit. With your one remaining spot, you might be able to pick up a good transfer. There are a lot of them on the market. Katz may already have someone lined up. That may be why Stuteville transferred. Maybe the kid from Utah.

Actually, Patton is a great shot blocker...his defense is way ahead of his offense...he is one of those guys with amazing timing on the blocked shots, not something that can be taught...he is still on the thin side, even with a red shirt year in the weight room...I think Mason knew he wasn't going to get the playing time he wanted and he didn't want to stay in school an extra year so he decided to drop down and play immediately....I wish him the very best as he is a very nice young man, from a great family...
