Glanville Cleans House,

There is obviously a story between Smith and Thompson that no one knows except them and Glanville but until that surfaces it is all speculation right now. Kicking someone off the team for housing issues is not justified at all. This is why this is such a big issue in Portland right now because all the reasons that are going around are not justified. And for the record Glanville did make cuts last year, no one heard about it because no one cared. Glanville cut all the people that were either injured or hurt with an exception of Aaron Dickson. Ashton Lee got his scholarship taken in the same way and their reason for him was because he didn't rehab in the training room to get himself better and that he did get permission to practice and chose not. But in fact Ashton had the paper work that proved there was no way he could practice and that he was in the training room 2 or 3 times a day. After he showed them this proof they said he could get his scholarship back but he said no because it was a slap in the face. Glanville is a great coach don't get me wrong but he could have handled these situations a little better. And now they are finally surfacing to the public. So who is really at fault now?

Who's at fault? Nobody, Bak. It's a coach doing what coaches do all over the land, with more or less (mostly less) publicity. When new management comes into a company heads usually roll. Beyond that, we take pride in moving a couple every year to the NFL, right? We're the NFL's minor league. In the NFL people are cut for even less reason. Being fired hurts. But you can learn from it, or you can waste a year resenting it. I hope these guys move on. If they want to play football, there's NCAA II, if they're good. If not, well, it's a heck of a big world out there, with millions of things to discover. Go to it!

This whole thing is getting out of control. I'm surprised the Oregonian hasn't delivered a Cabo-style story where they roast JG without any facts or getting PSU's side of the story. I can't wait 'til we have fall camp or real games to talk about instead of this stuff.

I too am surprised that the Big Oh hasn't put out anything on this. Maybe they learned their lesson from that Mexico fiasco.

The disgruntled posters on this subject are new to the list - probably either unhappy scholarship students or their friends. Or - perish the thought - troublemakers. If they go away eventually, it's the latter. If they stay and hack away, we've got a problem. Me, I've said all there is to say on the subject, and won't come back to it.

it really is a sore subject and there really isn't much else to say about the team except this. We need to start camp right away so all this mumbo jumbo can end. Hopefully all the guys who scholarships were taken end up somewhere and do well in the future

Looks like at least three players had their appeals upheld.

The three best of those released. Wonder what the chances are that we'll see them continue playing football at PSU. Seems a possibility given the distance these guys came and the mindset of the modern college athlete. Now it's up to Glanville not to be stubborn and give these guys a way back into the fold. They were 3 of the 15 most talented guys in the program.

Nothing personal against those kids who lost their scholarships.. But, I am glad to see Jerry clean house. As a season ticket holder for the last 8 years, I have been a little frustrated with how soft the team has become. I realize that Jerry was stuck with Walsh's players from last year and had to make due, but this is the year to make changes now that his guys are coming in the door!
