Going to Flagstaff

I'm finally going to have the opportunity to see the Great Dame and the rest of the Cats live up at NAU on the 9th! It will be my son's first Weber State ball game so I hope its a good one.

Anybody know of anyone else going? I imagine Treznak's and Fulton's families will be there representing Weber. How's the arena up there? I've been to a football game, but never bball.

I'm going to try and go. It just depends on how early I can get off of work. I've never been to a basketball game at NAU though.

Mt. Jack will be able to give you better directions than me, on how to get there, but I do know that the basketball games aren't being played in the Dome. They are playing their games at the Rolle Activity Center. I imagine that is similar to the Stromberg basketball courts. Very small. Migra, the Weber Heights Stake Center is larger. Seriously!! Well, at least from what I can tell from the video feeds.

I feel badly for NAU athletics. They get terrible support from their community and they are consistently competitive. NAU has a large student body, Flagstaff is a lot like Logan, except bigger (it is also a railroad town; personally I really like it), but the Jacks get little support. I think the Rolle can fit maybe 1000. I'm not 100% sure, but it isnt very large.

I hope a lot of Wildcat fans show up and support the Cats. They deserve a lot of fan support where ever they go. The Alumni Association should have groups supporting and attending each game. Sad that it isn't happening. I know that I could put together alumni chapters at all of the Big Sky citites so that Weber, at least, has some semblance of support.

On a side note, I'd love to be able to go to the game. It would be cool to chill with Migra and ZonaCat. Not to mention being able to watch the Cats. Oh well, I will be chilling with Fly and Maddawg.

I remember meeting the purple pack up there (I think it was 3 years ago) for a football game. I ended up getting a free ticket and I got to share a room with bangalhater. I remember how appreciative the team was of the support when they came over to our section after the win to sing the fight song with us. That was a really good time.

I love Flagstaff Its one of the coolest little cities I've been through. Should be a fun trip.

MIGRAman, just checked NAU's website and the game is @ the Rolle Activity Center. It is just southwest of the Dome on the southern part of campus. It's just off the I-17 exit. Tix are $12 and they have plenty tix remaining. Like talhadfoursteals said, it is very small, smaller than my high school gym. So there aren't a lot of tickets because of that. Weber's bench is in front of Section 106. So that's where I'm going to get my tix for myself and my son.

Anyone Else Going To The Game In Flagstaff???

Let's Do It!

Hey, Migra and Zona.

I'll hop on the internets tonight @ work during a break and give you the Flagstaff scoop. You should be able to get a ticket over behind Weber's bench relatively easily. The improved Rolle Activity Center (yes...it has improved since last year) now seats around 1,200-1,300 or something along those lines.

Wish I could make the trek up but duty calls instead. I may make the trip north for the Bracketbuster game vs. UC-Davis?

NAU's having the roughest of rough years but I'm still supporting em.

Like I said...will check in later when my break is longer.

Zona's directions were pretty good.

Follow I-17 into Flagstaff. Take the first exit (E. McConnell Drive) and turn right. Take the first right onto Pine Knoll Drive. You will pass a few parking lots (if I remember....don't think there are buildings there yet), the Foresty Building and soccer intramural fields before you'll come to the Rolle Activity Center on your left. Parking shouldn't be hard to find. If you get to the Skydome then you've gone too far. I don't think they charge for parking but, once again, I don't remember.

You have both mentioned you're bringing your sons so I doubt a night out on the town is in order. Even if you're not drinking, Beaver Street Brewery on -fittingly- Beaver Street just south of the railroad tracks and the AMtrak Station downtown is a personal favorite. The Tinderbox Kitchen on S. San Francisco STreet is a bit pricier but it's damned good "comfort" food. Flagstaff Brewing, Collins Irish Pub and Charleys (The Hotel Weatherford) all have decent food. Alpine Pizza downtown is tasty and quick. Lots of chain restaurants off the road when you first pull into town. I don't know East Flagstaff restaurants as I rarely had reason to go to that side of town.

I love my Lumberjacks sports but Weber is light years better than NAU this year. I'm just hoping that all of this experience for the young players pays off in the future. It's been a tough year for coaches and players. Look forward to watching the bigskytv.org/NAUtv web broadcast.

Have fun up north and post a review if you would, guys. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Zona, thanks for the info. We're staying at the Travel Lodge just across campus. I haven't checked the map for where the Rolle Center is in comparison would be cool if its in close walking distance.

Good info MtJack Thanks man. We probably won't be going out for dinner afterwords, but since we're staying the night maybe we'll look into one of those places to get some lunch before we head back on Friday.

Can't wait for the game tomorrow @ NAU! Got my tix today for my son and I. Making the 2 hour drive from PHX.

Any other Wildcats making the trip?

I wish it were a weekend game! I think with some planning we could have filled the place with purple!

If I wasnt working tomorrow, I probably would have went, but I will be watching from the comfort of my office chair tonight on BSTV

GO CATS.

Zona, Heyoh, and Migra cheer loud tonight for the Cats. I really wish I could be there. I would have made the drive south if this game would have been on Saturday. Oh well...have a great time and GOOOOO CATS!!!

Migra, is your whole family going, or just you and Carter? I so wish I could go. Would be a way fun trip to hang with you and my nephew at a Weber road game. We'll have to plan on it next year for sure. Maybe talhad and banglehater will come too! Hopefully catcat still lives in Cali and won't be able to come still.
