Sacramento State Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Tarvish Felton pled no contest to driving under the influence today in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Felton was charged with a misdemeanor for driving with a 0.12 blood alcohol concentration level.

Superior Court Commissioner Craig Regan sentenced Felton to three years unsupervised probation, two days of service with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department work project, and imposed a $512 fine.

As conditions of his probation, Felton cannot drive with any measurable alcohol in his system, must submit to a complete chemical test at the request of any peace officer, and must enroll in and complete any court-ordered treatment program.

Felton was required by the court to enroll in a three-month DUI First Offenders Program.

DUI First Offender Programs run three to four months and include classes and counseling.

Felton also faces a one year mandatory suspension of his driver's license.

This is Felton's first year as assistant coach for the men's basketball team. Prior to his position at Sac State, Felton served as assistant coach for the Southern Utah Thunderbirds men's basketball team last year and served as head coach for Texas A&M International University from 2003 to 2006.

Felton and his attorney declined to comment.

How come he was never suspended/fired? Why did Jenkins let this go? Another reason why he needs to be shown the exit.

Aggie, I'm kinda torn about this one. Yes I know, he is in the public because he is an assistant basketball coach. However, of the thousands (which is really sad to type) of people who get arrested for a DUI each day in the US, how many of them will lose their job because of it....my guess would be less than 5%. He made a mistake, Thank God he didn't kill himself or anyone else, and now he is paying for the consequences of his actions. Hell, if I knew at that point that we would end up 4-24 and 2-14 in conference, I'd be drinking heavily...just inside my own home...actually, after watching this team this year, I have.

It's not like he is going to be back next year anyway. This group of coaches is the worst I've seen since Abatemarco's first year.
