Great West going all sports?

Interesting announcement, given Texas Pan American doesn't have football. The key question: would Cal Poly and UC Davis leave the Big West for this? Would Southern Utah leave a basketball conference that has an automatic bid for one that will take some years for such to materialize?

Does this give every school in the Big Sky not named Montana a little more leverage?

That's really interesting. It does seem like something would have to be up for UTPA to join that league. I'd find it hard to believe that UC Davis and Cal Poly would leave the Big West in other sports, but who knows? I certainly won't be shocked if this impacts the Big Sky at some point in the next 5 years.

Was on the fan board for South Dakota State and found out that Cal Poly and Cal Divis won't leave the Big West for the Great West for all sports. Plus Chicago State said thanks but no thanks to the Great West. No clue what Southern Utah will do since they belong to the Summitt League for all sports except football.

I keep up with ALL the conference realignment news. Been a hobby of mine.

This would appear to be the list of "all-sports" members of the Great West... noting that of them, only North Dakota and South Dakota have football (I think).

Yes, that's New Jersey Institute of Technology. It's spelled d - e - s - p - e - r - a - t - i - o - n.

Rumor has it that Seattle U. (formerly of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference) and Chicago State will join later.
