Griz/NAU Ending...No Tech?

Check out the video. A Montana fan or member of the bench comes on the floor to celebrate winning shot. Problem is there's still time on the clock.

Refs decide no technical foul should be callled. Wonder if ref's call it same way if this game is played anywhere but Missoula. Eags better get ready for 8 on 5 and not expect a single call to go their way tonight. Montana received some gracious calls in both games they've played this week.

Crazy @#*& always happens in Missoula.

There should have been a technical but it's whatever. NAU had plenty of chances and didn't take advantage of them.

It looked like some well dressed guy from the Griz bench was practically at the free throw line and then runs diving back to the bench when the refs stop play. I'd be pretty pissed if I was NAU as well. Not sure it really impacted the game much, but I remember our football team getting a 15 yard penalty and Montana a free play for essentially the same thing.

A technical foul is very rarely called in that situation. I watch a ton of college BB and fans running onto the court early isn't uncommon at all. Hell, in a Cal game last year the entire student section emptied onto the court about a second early. The ball wasn't in play so the refs stopped the game temporarily to clear the court. There are video clips of coach Montgomery trying to herd students off the court. It happens. I can't remember a single time I saw a T called in that situation though. Different of course if the ball is in play and something like that happens. Thankfully that wasn't the case.

Last nights was just a few people (a couple students on the other end of the court rushed on too). The refs stopped the game anyway to make sure they had the right amount of time on the clock. It gave NAU an extra timeout that they didn't have but meh...not much they could do with .4 seconds and it's important for the refs to make sure they had the right amount of time on the clock.

Looking forward to tonights game! Hoping for a huge crowd!

Just ask Ken Bone about TF's in that situation. WAZZU went into a tailspin after TF called against them when they played Oregon and they lost in OT after a couple technical foul shots tied in regulation.

Same thing apply when the person rushing the court is a roster player (as was apparently the case last night)? Why isn't it considered either an improper substitution or delay of game? Don't really care one way or the other but it seems odd that other sports would call a T or personal foul for similar conduct.

HannahO,
Glad to see you are sill hanging in there with us on the blog. Listened to the TV Announcers today during the game, he stated, if NAU had attempted to get the ball into play before Officials blew their whistle, there would have been a TECH., against Montana. It is one of Montana helpers that did this, they were familiar with the rules. They were also slowing down the game, attempting to get our Players to miss free throws. We are now 4-0 in Montana this year thanks to the playoffs. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: To bad you and the Hubby are not on this side. Chaves announced on Larry Weir show after the game, that Reece Court will be opened at 2 p.m. and we can all see where we are going in the Dance. "Outstanding Come back" On to the Big Dance. Have a great weekend, you and family. Going to watch the game again, DVR the game, had we lost, would have deleted it. Vic Wallace

DPEeagle 83,
Saw something earlier where we could be playing Gonzaga. Don't know how correct that is. I will be going to EWU Reece Court tomorrow. Doors open @ 2p.m., @ 3 p.m., we can all see who we will be playing. Vic Wallace
