EWURanger said:I think their defense is good enough to keep them in most games that they'll play in this year. They have probably the best defensive line in the BSC. If they can get their offensive problems worked out, they'll make the playoffs. I think part of that is play calling. I am pretty sure I watched them throw three bubble screens in a row and then punt last night.
Their special teams are pretty abysmal to say the least, not sure what's going on there.
I don't think we know enough about our own team right now to say that we're going to roll anyone. Besides, when was the last time the Eastern/Montana game wasn't tightly contested? I think it will be the same this year.marceagfan5 said:clawman said:but they are looking pretty good this year.
Really?
They lost to a horrid FBS team, beat a bad FCS team by 8 at home, and haven't shown jack this year. I respect their program but the Griz just aren't the same. We are going to roll them and they are going to get absolutely embarrassed next week. They are a borderline playoff team this year, they may not win a road game...

Exactly. Until our defense comes to play, we shouldn't be thinking we're going to be blowing out anyone in the Big Sky.kalm said:Seattle Eagle said:I don't think we know enough about our own team right now to say that we're going to roll anyone. This. And it's not as though teams can't improve throughout the season. We need to do some improving on our own.
special teams and oline seem to be their weakness. Their QB doesn't seem to be making very good reads but Im not sure if that has more to do with him or the oline. He does seem to be running around for his life in their two games I have watched Wyo and South Dak.kalm said:EWURanger said:I think their defense is good enough to keep them in most games that they'll play in this year. Their oline got pushed pretty good at times.
Your statement implies the defense is not working as hard as the offense players. If I were a member of the defense I would resent your comment.DefendtheRed said:Exactly. Until our defense comes to play, we shouldn't be thinking we're going to be blowing out anyone in the Big Sky.

These kids have worked their arses off for month and years, to have that effort dimished is disturbing.
Yes, this is what I was saying. Why is it that people think I am making personal attacks when I am critical of our defense? I do think that they can and will play better than what we've seen, but so far they deserve the criticism. It isn't personal nor do I think that they aren't playing with effort. It's a young D and I think the results thus far show that.LDopaPDX said:clawman said:Your statement implies the defense is not working as hard as the offense players. I think you are reading that with too much of a literal interpretation. I believe he means the defense is not performing to the level they need to be at, and the offense is having to carry the extra burden. And said that way, I'd agree.
No one doubts the defensive effort, but based on how many yards and points the D has given up, it's easy to question the results. It is especially difficult to understand given that Eastern has a lot of talent on that side of the ball, yet it isn't translating to defensive stops.
