GU game

Although it ended in a loss, I thought it was a very impressive start for the Eags. Last night's game was a clear indicator of how important guard play is in college hoops. I thought Colimon was clearly the best player on the floor, and our guard play overall was vastly superior to GU's. Also a reminder of how important experience is. Until the final minute, we played all juniors and seniors. GU's freshmen guards looked very unsure and timid. Fortunately for us, we will not see another front line like Sacre/Harris/Dower again the rest of the year. Not only the height but also their athletic ability, and most importantly, their strength. Griffin, Ederaine, and Johnson are all so thin. They competed really hard, but when a 210lb guy is competing hard and a 270lb guy is competing hard, the bigger guy is usually gonna win. I believe that was the reason for the foul difference. Chiverton wont go 2-12 inside the 3 point line against Big Sky calibre front lines. I think the 3rd place prediction might have been 1 spot too low. I still think Weber will win it, but I think we can give them a run for their money.

+ 1. Cliff Colimon was by far the best guard on the floor last night and I agree I was also very impressed with the composure of the coaching staff as well as the players. They were playing to win that game but the lack of really imposing inside play was the difference in this one. Laron never really got going as he got in foul trouble so so early.

Was really impressed. Colimon and Chiverton are the real deal. I was a little concerned when we lost Dean, but Cliff Colimon is MORE than capable of being the man, and I don't really think we lost much, if anything. I am excited to see what this team can do this year.
