Hardwood Causeway Classic...

I caught some of the game and it was an ugly one. Both teams on the court today are terrible, sadly the Hornets are slightly more terrible. I never thought that this team would regress but after what I saw, it is clear that this team has actually gotten worse from last season. The Hornets aren’t even in the challenging portion of their schedule and they look pathetic. It’s not all on the players though; the coaching is just as much to blame. Katz has no idea how to get this team off to a fast start in the beginning of a game or at the beginning of a second half. Opposing teams are constantly starting on a run and this team just doesn’t look ready to play when the whistle blows. The offensive side of the ball is pathetic. Katz was billed as a coach who likes to go to the post and gets points in the paint but he has not utilized the increased roster size at all. The team is playing with no energy or emotion and look as if they are just going through the motions. This team needs a wakeup call if they want to salvage anything from this season. The worst part of it is this style of play isn’t even exciting to watch. There is no pressure on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side has poor execution.

I've never actually seen a DI basketball team look so OUT OF RYTHM for an entire game. Last night I saw a lot of what made two years ago really terrible to watch. Four perimeter players trying to force the ball into the post to a flashing big man on the baseline time after time after time. How many times does that work? Occasionally, Dickson will get his hands on it and spin inside for an easy two, but most often the other team snatches up the entry pass of we throw it out of bounds.

This is entirely ugly to watch right now...

I agree. STB had the worst shooting game in his career and kept hoisting shots outside the paint. If STB was on I think it would have been a different game but it was obvious that Eller left some big shoes to fill down low. Someone (i.e. Bjegovic or Ndiaye) has to step up or this will be ugly especially considering that the entire BSC has improved.

I thought Katz was a good move and would have us moving in the right directions, but now I don't know...
 
Kadeezy I’m not going to push Katz under the bus just yet, but it’s safe to say he has inched his way closer to the curb. It’s still early in the season and there is time to turn it around…but the same mistakes that have been happening under Katz since he arrived have not been diminished whatsoever. :|
