"I am grateful to take this next step in the journey of life and to coach at Seattle University. A special thank you to all my EWU players"

Just another sign of how bad the conference has become. Hayford leaves for a job at a WAC school that has had one winning season the past seven years.

He's probably doubling his salary and hey, would you rather live in, and recruit to Seattle or Cheney?

To me this is less about Conference strength and more about the lack of $$$ most Big Sky programs are willing to put into Basketball instead of Football... :twocents:

They go hand in hand. Conference strength is weak in large part because conference schools don't invest in basketball.

Right, it's obviously about money, and money is a show of strength, or lack of, for a conference.

Maybe Hayford sees the writing on the wall at Eastern and there are unique opportunities at Seattle. Eastern's basketball program will never be as important as football. Whereas at Seattle, basketball is king. There is a chance, though slight, but a chance, that Seattle makes their way back into the WCC. Seattle is virtually rock bottom right now and has quite a way to go and that gives thumper time. Most importantly, thumper, in my opinion, has hit his ceiling at Eastern. He is leaving the cupboards absolutely bare for the next coach.

Maybe Randy is able to get a home and home with Seattle. Better than playing Antelope Valley College, Britstol or St. Katherine.

No dammnitt! this cannot be! This move is only because the Big Sky sucks and is even suckier than the WAC

With Thumper, Red Face, and Jones all leaving the BSC, who will we have to taunt in the coming years? Seems to me like the entertainment value is going down. Hopefully, EWU and PSU can find some more clowns to bring in for our entertainment. I'm going to miss Thumper and Red Face.

Where did Jones go? Do you mean the UND Jones?
UND is leaving the Sky after this year. Jones actually did a better job of coaching his kids and not the refs this year. I don't know how the coaches at EWU and PSU managed to not get tossed from several games this past year. However, they were entertaining. More entertaining than their players at times.

Hayford has hired former SUU head coach, Nick Robinson, as an assistant. Maybe the 'Sky isn't so bad, since Seattle is grabbing coaches and players from there to build its program!
