ISU Athletic Department posts highest APR scores in department history



POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State Athletic Department continues to make strides in the classroom as it recorded its highest ever Academic Progress Rate score with a multi-year score of 937 and a single year score of 950. The multi-year scores are taken from 2007 to 2011 while the single-year score is based on the 2010-11 academic year.

“I appreciate the hard work of our student-athletes to succeed in the classroom,” Idaho State Director of Athletics Jeff Tingey said. “The results of these scores show that our coaches and academic services are working hand in hand to provide our student-athletes excellent opportunities to have success in the classroom.”

The 950 single-year score is up 11 points from the 939 in the 2008-09 school year and the 937 multi-year score breaks last year’s record of 934.
Men’s indoor and outdoor track and field, women’s tennis, women’s golf and volleyball all scored a perfect 1,000 score for the 2010-11 academic year.

The football program improved for the third year in a row and posted its second-best ever score with a 903 for the 2010-11 year. The football program is no longer under any APR penalties for the upcoming year.

In the last four years, women’s volleyball, women’s cross country and women’s golf have posted a 1,000 score in three of the last four years.
Along with the programs who had a 1,000 score, eight team’s improved their single-year score from the previous year.

Women’s indoor track and field jumped from a 956 to 961. Football went from an 883 to 903 while women’s soccer improved for a fourth straight year to a 979 this year. In 2007-08 the women’s soccer program had a 947. The biggest jump in scores came from the women’s tennis program that went from a 903 in 2009-10 to a perfect 1,000 in 2010-11.
Men’s cross country jumped from a 941 to 969 while men’s indoor and outdoor track and field went from a 955 and 957 to a 1,000 score. Women’s basketball also improved to a 956 single-year score.
