HOMER SCHEDULING

THE BSC TEAMS PLAYED 52 HOME PRE-CONFERENCE GAMES

21 WERE AGAINST LOWER DIVISION TEAMS WITH THE RECORD BEING 21-0 OR 100% WINNING PERCENTAGE.
WSU PLAYED 3 HOME GAMES AGAINST LOWER OPPONENT AND WENT 3-0 OR 100% WINNING PERCENTAGE.

31 BSC PRE-CONFERENCE HOME GAMES WERE AGAINST MID MJOR OPPONENTS GOING 8-23 (26%)
5 WSU PRE-CONFERENCE HOME GAMES WER AGAINST MID MAJOR OPPONENTS GOING 4-1 (80%)

INFERRED CONCLUSIONS:
(1) THERE WERE 25 MID-MAJOR SCHOOLS THAT TRAVELED TO THE HOME COURTS OF BSC SCHOOLS AND WSU ONLY SCHEDULED 2 OF THEM. Get after that list for next years scheduling.
(2) THE LIST OF SCHOOLS TRAVELING TO BSC ARENAS: CS Fullerton, CS Northridge, CS Bakersfield who all traveled to two BSC schools to play them on their home court. South Dakota State, Denver, Colorado State, Utah Valley, North Dakota State, Washington State, Omaha, San Francisco, UT San Antonio, UMBC, Seattle, Utah State, Boise State, Wyoming, Austin Peay, UC Davis, Portland, Norfolk State, Pacific, South Dakota, Northern Illinois and Norther Iowa all traveled to play in the BSC. So there are quality opponents who are willing to travel to BSC teams. Proof in the 25 names above. Maybe we are being lied to...
(3) I don't believe that Weber is scheduling the highest level of opponents they can attract to their home gym. And the above schools is proof that. If we wanted to, we could put a much nicer schedule together. Somebdy, (Bovee) wake up and smell the roses. Put some pressure on Rahe to schedule better. Help him to schedule better.

they have been saying this same stuff about not being able to get teams to come to the dee which is fine. my problem is they have been saying it for 10-15 years. the excuse is no longer valid after 2-3 yrs of saying it. figure it out.

A quick look. Due to time constraints, I've rushed through this. I'm not sure when Utah Valley State officially became division I. There may be errors, but it's a decent overview.

1991-1992 (Abegglen): Virginia Military, The Citadel
1992-1993 (Abegglen): BYU-Hawaii, Alaska-Anchorage (lost on neutral floor), Lewis-Clark State
1993-1994 (Abegglen): @Alaska-Anchorage (won this time), Central Washington, Oregon Tech, Coast Guard
1994-1995 (Abegglen): Lewis-Clark State, BYU-Hawaii
1995-1996 (Abegglen): Alaska-Anchorage (win in Ogden)
1996-1997 (Abegglen): No lower division games that I see
1997-1998 (Abegglen): Mt. Saint Mary's, Seattle Pacific
1998-1999 (Abegglen): Mesa State; @BYU-Hawaii
1999-2000 (Cravens): Westminster, Southern Virginia, Western Oregon
2000-2001 (Cravens): Morris Brown, Anderson
2001-2002 (Cravens): Concordia, Montana Western,
2002-2003 (Cravens): @Alaska-Fairbanks (loss), Montana Tech, Morris Brown
2003-2004 (Cravens): Albertson College, Warner Pacific
2004-2005 (Cravens): Utah Valley State, Albertson College, @Utah Valley State (loss)
2005-2006 (Cravens): Montana Western, Montana Tech, @Utah Valley State (loss), Utah Valley State

For all the crap we give Weber about scheduling, Utah pulls some of the same stunts (mind you, it's easier for them to pay an opponent to go to the Huntsman Center). Last night, while Weber was beating up on Multnomah, Utah was losing to another NAIA school (College of Idaho) 16-2 to start the game! Utah eventually got their act together and won, 115-74.

Is there a reason Weber State invites NAIA schools and not NCAA division II or III schools? Makes me wonder if they're even allowed to do it other than exhibition games, because it seems like most of their cupcake opponents are NAIA when there is a full slate of division II or III schools out there.

We can play D2 or 3 in the regular season. I think it has to do with timing and the fact that we like to low ball our guarantee offers.
