The headline may confuse you. No, not transferring to Weber, but possibly to McNeese State according to ESPN. Looks like we might get to see him play at Stewart Stadium.

He came, he talked to the coaches, he went home to think about it. If I know Matt Viator, he told how it would have to be if he came to McNeese and Tyrann decided he better think about it.

McNeese Press Release:

"LAKE CHARLES - After receiving permission from LSU, McNeese State head football coach Matt Viator met with former Tiger All-American cornerback and 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu late Friday evening at the Jack V. Doland Athletic Field House. Mathieu then returned to his hometown of New Orleans late Friday night.

“I received a call from Tyrann after practice on Friday that he wanted to come and meet with us,” said Viator. “We contacted LSU to get permission to talk to him and he arrived on campus later that night. We visited for an hour-and-a-half and then he went back home to New Orleans.”

To McNeese’s knowledge, Mathieu has not made a decision on his intentions and there will be no other comments from McNeese about the issue at this time."

I'd be pumped to see him in Ogden. Heisman talent. He would probably be guarding Kehano... Gonna be a tough game for Kehano with Tyrann on him.

Not happening!

We really didn't need him and his baggage as our defensive backfield is one of our strengths. Most of the hardcore McNeese fans were against him coming anyway as we all remember Cecil Collins.

But hidden behind all the "where is the Honey Badger" hype, we did get a good transfer that fits our needs a whole lot better. ;)

A lot better than last season, imo. But I'll be able to tell you more after the first game.

Hopefully, we will stick to our 5 year pattern. 1997-2002-2007-2012(?)

I think the McNeese State game is our Make or break game this year, so early in the season to, we cant start 0-3 it would be a disaster. I think it's gonna be a great game against a team we havent played for a very long time.

i assumed 2012 was just a down yr. seems like you guys are always in the top 25...

we have only one for sure win at home this yr - unc. this might be our toughest schedule in the past 4 years.

Nothing is going to beat next year's schedule, if Weber is gonna make any noise they might want to do it this year

The rumor is its Utah and Utah State next year, hooray for us

IT IS UTAH AND UTAH STATE next year. YIKES!! We open, at home, novel idea, doesn't happen very often, and then two straight against Utah and USU, then another road game (Eastern I believe??). UGLY schedule. However, if we have to play FBS, I'd rather stay close to home then having to travel across the country. Also, it makes it possible for us, the fans, to see more home games.

Even though this years home schedule is tough, at very least, those games are at home. I'd rather face UM, Eastern, Poly, and McNeese at home this year. We have an experienced team that, if things go right, could bring home a championship trophy. Yes, a lot has to go right though. Thankfully, we have the weaker half (if that is possible in the Sky) on the road, other than UNCO.
