Hornet Seeding Scenarios

Well, a lot hinges on whether the Hornets win or lose. Hornets win, we get a 2 or 3 seed. Hornets lose, it's 4, 5, or 6. As far as the required help goes, the lower seeds rely only on how the Montanas do; the upper seeds add in the Vikings.

Assuming that we've won our last regular season game, if ANY ONE or TWO of PSU, UM, or MSU win, we clinch 3. If ALL THREE of those teams win their last game, we clinch 2.

Assuming we lose the last game, PSU is removed from the equation, and we're then looking for Montana school LOSSES. If BOTH lose, we get 4. After that, UM drops out. If MSU loses, we get 5. If MSU wins, we get 6.

In sum:

(2) - Sac win PLUS PSU win AND UM winAND MSU win
(3) - Sac win PLUS PSU win OR UM win OR MSU win

(4) - Sac loss PLUS MSU loss AND UM loss
(5) - Sac loss PLUS MSU loss
(6) - Sac loss PLUS MSU win
 
Step one out of the way. EWU beat PSU this afternoon, so provided we take care of business, we get the 2 seed after the Montanas win.
