The Hornets are ranked #16 in the latest Gridiron Power Index ranking released today! This ranking seems more realistic to me than the other polls.

I seriously doubt that anybody outside of the Hornet Family would agree with that. I've already been smacked hard for my "Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows."

somewhere in the 16-20 range seems about right. I don't understand Sagarin and Massey having the Hornets at 8/9 -> that seems too high. apparently, margin of score is a big deal for both of those. if weber or NAU spiral downhill, i would think the computer polls would drop. the human polls are too low. i would put Poly above the Hornets since they are 7-3 with wins over Montana and McNeese.

DrMike: The last couple of years, I've gotten headaches trying to figure out those crazy Massey Ratings as applied to the Independent Women's Football League. That crap was held over record to determine playoff qualification and seeds. EVERYONE was confused....

looks like margin of victory is a big deal in Massey and Sagarin, along with strength of schedule...but....than how do they explain South Alabama? Poly seems really low in the computers, you guys a bit high in a couple of them.

It's hard as a Sac State fan to take most of these polls seriously. I think most of them are driven by the size of the team's fan base, historical record etc instead of the current quality of a team's play. We are probably will not making the playoffs this year, regardless of how well we play the final two games. Next year with basically the whole offense returning along with 5 starters coming off medical red shirt I would be surprised if we weren't in the playoff mix. I would hate to see our chances hurt by being unfairly ranked. With wins in our final two games I say we belong in the top 15 this season, and to start next season there. The GPI at least is said to be similar to the the formula that the NCAA uses to pick playoff teams.

GL - I agree. Sac is a top 15 team based on strength of schedule and the fact that they are 3 plays from being 8-1.
