Hornets against them

GoAgs72,

There will always be bad calls in the course of the game. I have a hard time believing that officals are going to intentionally make an incorrect call. In the past your team would have dealt with the call and your defense would have done their job but they didn't and you lost. You need to look at the bigger issue which is that your team has not performed as well as you would like since leaving D2.

A little wisdom from Dwight Schrute for you ags: if ifs and buts were candies and nuts every day would be pretty doll day.

And if that ONE play determined the game, they weren't really winning. I can't count how many times that same call has been made against the Hornets versus davis, too many to count.

What about the missed pass interferance call in the endzone that was made against Hendershott? That was definately an early hit and would have put Sac on the 1yd. line.

Stop whining, you couldn't touch MBT and the team in the 2nd half, for once we made adjustments and it paid off. In the past we would have stuck with the nothing is working approach the whole game. Props to Coach Sperbutt and staff...and the players who played with heart and passion to win.

"Is this another “we are better than you” comment?"

Once in a long while, a comment may be made without an ulterior motive. The Great West has had "stinkers' too. One ref lost us a game against North Dakota State a few years ago that even had NDSU fans scratching their heads who saw it on TV.

I am sure the aggies play that day had absolutely nothing with the loss; just like the poor 4th quarter aggie D had nothing to do with the loss this past game. It was all on the ref. 100% of the reason this game was lost was because of the ref.

Note: This post was 100% sarcasm.

Wow it looks like all these "stinkers" are working against the ags never the other team, or maybe you are just the unluckest team on earth. From where I was sitting there were two clear PI penalty no calls against davis in the end zone.
Even if the Carter catch was ruled complete you would have lost. At that point of the game our offensive line had worn down your defense and your corners suck. That last drive was perfection slowly driving it down the field using up the clock. I have no doubt that if two scores were needed using the long ball we could have got them. I was watching our bench in the first half and McCloud Bethel Thompson was throwing the ball around and then had a long conversation with Coach Sperbeck several series before halftime. Maybe that was the game plan all along, to lull the ags into thinking they had contained the short passing game (since Jason Smith with a bad shoulder was unable to throw long) and run. and then burn them with the strong arm of MBT in the second half. Just a thought. :D

The comments of a frustrated fan who sees the University across the Causeway, out recruiting, outcoaching and outplaying his Alma Mater, and he wants us to hurt while he lays blame at the refs. Sorry, at our school, we were taught critical thinking skills and not "herd mentality", so those arguments do not fly. My suggestion would be to lament on the Oregon State basketball board, they can also feel your pain. :P

If that's how it actually went down, Sperbeck is a genius, at least during that game!

Havent heard much from Sperbutt since the win, I was kind of hoping he would enlighten all of us a little more on what took place on the sideline. Sperbutt, where are you? :P

Haha, you know they're fuming at OSU! Who would have thought the Hornets would go into their house and beat them? I certainly didnt, I was just hoping they'd keep it close.

Lt Dan:
Thanks for posting the pics. You do an awesome job. Hopefully the "barnyard boys" will get to see these and re-live the magic!
Go Hornets!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. It was both a pleasure and privilege to document some of the games this season.

One note about the images-----I would post up a much smaller amount if the criteria was just to put up the 15 or 20 best action shots. But I think some of the players, families, and out-of-towners enjoyed seeing a larger selection----and it also gets some recognition for the guys laboring in the trenches instead of just seeing the "skill positions". Plus, the beer pong frat boys, band, dance team, and fans with strange clothing choices that come out on game day need to be acknowledged as well, right? It takes a (weird but wonderful) village.

Sometimes the other media types around the field are curious about who I'm am working for. When I say Facebook, they nod and walk away a little puzzled. But I don't think I was lying very much, so I'm probably still going to heaven.

See you back here in the Spring, hopefully.

Lt. Dan

LtDan,

Your work is very much appreciated! The more pics the better! I like the shots of the crowd and tailgate crew!
