HORNETS ON FIRE!

That's right, five straight! ... the women are flat getting it done!

Great win on the road last night at Portland State!

Women just beat 1st place EWU 78-69 at their house!!! 6th straight win!!!! So fricken awesome!!!! What a road trip: beat the 1st and 2nd place teams at their house's on back-to-back nights!!!!

Awesome job, I was getting dizzy watching the game, those ladies never stopped, balls flying, it was a great feed online, woohoo!

What was EWU's coach all in a huff about?

Hornets really took it to EWU, we were up by 6 at half. Convincing win.

Longest win streak since moving up to Division I ... Most wins in Big Sky history ... Double digit victories ... Consecutive road victories over the top two teams in the conference ... If this were Katz you all would be promoting him for saint hood.

I say remove the interim tag and give the new coach a long term contract. She has EARNED it!!!!!

It's too early to take a five-game win streak for granted. But if we make noise in the conference tournament, then as much as I would still like to hire Gina Johnson, I would have to at least think about what wrkrb has to say. There's a lot of credence there....

SurperHornet, you were the LAST person I expected to relent ... good for you ... and good for the Hornets!

A look at the box score shows just how good this group is playing right now ... they're getting it done despite injuries to a few top players! Two wins in less than 48 hours, playing only 7-8 ... wow!!!!

Are you saying that we're playing with 7-8 players? Is that the rotation or are we suiting up that few due to injuries/academic problems? If it's the latter, that's not good news. There's already precedent of NCAA teams playing under power-play conditions, and it almost happened a month or two ago in the NBA. (The only thing that prevented that was an NBA rule mandating that if one fouls out causing a power-play, he must remain in the game with the proviso that any further fouls by him result in a technical.)

Please say that's not the case. If it is, Craighead is doing an even better job than it appears at first blush.

SH please read the releases on hornetsports.com. If you did, you would know that Field-Polisso and White are redshirting this year due to injuries and we just lost Cannady two weeks ago due to rupturing her Achilles in practice.

One more thing, Jaime Craighead will be the coach of this for sometime. There is prob a reason that gal at Delta is still there. She's not going to be our coach at Sac State for a while, if ever.

About ten years ago or so, Notre Dame went into the Big East Conference Tournament shorthanded due to injuries. They responded by activating the student manager, who had played at Stockton-St. Mary's. She had to be stopped from performing her manager duties after her first game.

Any chance Craighead thought of this solution? There's also the option of getting players' friends to walk-on. I understand about short-term emergencies, but there's no way we should be going into games this shorthanded on a consistent basis.

SH, they've won SIX in a row ... think the coach and player's have it under control ... in fact, that's the point of the thread - the coach and the team are getting it done - and the coach deserves a contract!!!

Are you being serious? Please look at their statistics online and tell me with a straight face they need to "activate" their student manager...or that Coach Craighead "thought of this solution?"

Have you even been to one of their games this year? This team is not short-handed...not by a long-shot. There are 11 active players right now...more than enough and more than adequate too...

Congratulations to Coach Craighead and the Hornets! I have enjoyed watching them this year, winning six in a row after losing the first four BSC games is amazing! They have been playing with a lot of poise, confidence and toughness. Last weekend with the come from behind win at #2 Portland State Friday night and the the win at #1 EWU on Saturday was great. If there ever was a "interim" in Coach Craighead's title it needs to be removed and she needs to be given a contract.

That was the answer I was looking for, SHA. Having a 7-person rotation with an 11-person active roster is a whole lot different than playing everyone on a 7-person roster. Clearly, with 11-13 people active, no augmentation is necessary.

Yes, I HAVE seen a game this year. The Hornets lost. At home. Of course, that was well before the streak.

This is great to see but I still think it would be a mistake to give Coach Craighead an extension. She is only using 7-8 players. Four of who are seniors. She will lose most of the scoring and rebounding, in other words, another rebuilding season. Craighead will not win 10 games next year.

But with that said, let's enjoy the win streak and this season. It has been so long since we've had this much "success", we all need to enjoy it. I know I am.

BTW, Charday Hunt has to be one of the best looking women's basketball players in the nation.

JH, serious?

A look at the roster shows 4 juniors, 3 sophomores and 2 freshmen ... add to that a terrific incoming class she has all ready signed and I'm not sure the argument about "rebuilding" holds much water.

Losing 3-4 seniors is standard issue since there are 15 scholarships at the Division I level to give. The program looks to be in GREAT shape from a class distribution stand point.
