Hosting the Tourney

So I'm confused. Can someone break down how we host the tourney after this loss. We are still two games up correct? Or are we just one

We are still up two but both North Dakota and Montana could catch us. There are many different tie-break scenarios so until the final standing are finalized the host team is still up for grabs. If we win one of the next two than we will host.

UND can catch, but Weber owns the H2H tie-breaker.
UNC out with their loss tonight.
UM still in the hunt to host.

I think we have clinched the host role. We have the tie breaker against both UND and UM. We swept UND and split with UM. If we end up tied with UM at the end, our sweep of UND would give it to us.

However, the best thing is to get a win on the road and win the thing outright. :thumb: :thumb:

I agree with old runner! By my math, congrats we are hosting.

If we lose the next 2, top to bottom h2h is what the tie breaker is decided by.

If Montana wins out, no team can pass North Dakota in standing that doesn't at least have the same or worse h2h results against us compared to Montana. If Montana wins MSU, SAC or NAU, this prevents any of the three from passing North Dakota in the standings. Should Montana lose any game, one of these teams could pass NDU but because of the loss Montana becomes unable to tie us. All other teams, UNC, PSU, EWU, that could catch NDU, have the same or worse head to head vs Montana as compared to us. Therefore, worst case senario, we end up tied with Montana, several teams end up tied with UND at 11-9 or ahead of them, we still host because Montana did better than us h2h against no team that could pass or tie UND.

Prepare to host!! Someone please present a senario for the final week to prove me wrong.

Please attack basket early in shot clock at the end of the game! Also, it's ok to dribble past press sometimes.

WEber nation

Without looking at it too closely, I think it's pretty likely Weber will be hosting but I think UM is still alive. We are UND fans the final two games even though we'd just as soon Weber finish strong and of their own accord. The team I wondered about if UM caught Weber was NAU but UM already lost to NAU and play them their last game so if UM were to catch Weber they would both be 1-1 with NAU and UNC. However, I think it's still possible for UM to catch Weber and MSU catch UND. If that were to happen, Weber is 2-0 on UND but UM would be 2-0 on MSU and that might be where there is still a chance for UM.

It's not official with a Big Sky announcement yet, but Bovee just said we have won all tiebreaker scenarios and tickets for the tourney will go on sale Monday.

We host. Now let's see if we can get the student section moved to the other side to make an impact in the second half. Or better yet, instead of standing students being up above the portals, put them below all student section portals. Standing students should occupy the bottom part of the entire student section area.

I hope the students will be free and if there will be a Facebook invite like the CIT title game. I would also like to see the band and students take a spot behind the basket. Our band is great, and they should be more visible for March madness! I am so stoaked we are hosting. Weber basketball is something to be proud of thanks to the players, coaches, community, students and especially the athletic department. Even though we lost, the Dee was rocking during the comeback and it was really something special! Let's market the heck out of this thing and sell it out.

I hate to go this far, but we continue to miss big free throws at home with the game on the line. I honestly think our student section, at it's current location, distracts our own players when we shoot free throws at the end of big games. Tonight is a perfect example. As we went to the line, multiple players asked the crowd, in particular the student section, to be quiet by looking over and pulling a move opposite to the link of Lebron below. I noticed Gittens and Berry both do this before huge misses. This wouldn't happen if the student section was out of the way at games end. The absolute hell we face each time in Missoula is a perfect example of the importance of student section location.

Yep - hosting the tourney looks correct. They must have figured this out days ago because the Conference web site notes that WSU has also clinched a post season bid. I assume the NIT which goes to the conference champ if they do not win the tourney (deja vu for Randy). Speaking of Coach, that was a horribly coached game. When the only play is Berry, we lose. Period. How long will it take for Randy to figure out the press? Too many choked big games. I respect his teaching, hard work, ethics, but he is not a good game coach.

I sure hope we can have energetic crowds for the tourney games!! Last saturday night, when NAU was shooting free throws near the end of regulation, it has been a long time since I heard the dee so loud.... It was neat to see all the fans working towards one goal... to make them miss freebies.. There was alot of energy.. We need that and more for the tourney... Where I was standing, it was deafening... :thumb:
