How can WSU beat UNLV?

SUU 2nd-03:23.
Largest lead-LV by 21 2nd-03:14, SUU by 6 1st-17:21.

UNLV should have outrebounded SUU was the main thing that stood out to me other than the shooting percentages.

On the season UNLV is shooting 68% from the FT line and 27% from 3 pt line. If UNLV shoots their average and we play our best basketball I don't see why we shouldn't have a chance.

Weber needs to do four things.

1. Limit Turn Overs. One thing UNLV is doing really well is forcing turnovers and getting steals. If Weber can win the T.O. battle and limit UNLV's shot attempts there is a great chance for the Cats.

2. Hit their 3's and FT's. If Weber shoots over 30% from 3pt range Weber wins this game.

3. Offensive boards. Weber needs to continue to out rebound their opponents. If they do have a bad shooting night, the Cats need to hit the boards hard.

4. Get off to a good start and play aggressive basketball for 40mins.

I think Weber will win this game and go into Logan with some great confidence.

It looks like Weber and UNLV should be pretty even in most categories. I think Weber might have the edge with the bench and the paint, if Panos shows up.

1. Play Defense

2. Make Free-throws

3. Make 3-Pointers

4. Inside game needs to show up

Simple as that, if we play the same way we played SUU, we should have just as good a chance to win as the Rebels do, the only thing that bothers me, is that despite how big our big men are, they always get thier shots blocked, they need to go up stronger.

Well, according to RPI forecast, Weber has a 23% chance of winning (http://www.rpiforecast.com/teams/Weber%20St..html). Weber has a better chance of winning this game than they do against USU next week (only 10%).
I think Weber has a chance if:

1. UNLV plays soft and uninspired basketball. In other words, they overlook Weber and expect to win by just showing up (aka Weber v Mont Tech last week).

2. Weber plays their best game of the year (or at least as good as they did against Utah).

3. Weber must do the fundamentals well (rebound, defend, limit turnovers, etc...).

4. Panos and D-Lill must have great games to establish the inside-outside game and to keep UNLV's defense from only having to focus on one thing (i.e. stopping Lillard or just stopping the inside game, etc.).

I would love to see a win, highly doubtful, but that is why you play the game.

This game was definitely winnable. Weber made some huge mistakes down the stretch and just didn't capitalize on the UNLV mistakes like they should have. However, it sounded like Bullinger sure got off the snide tonight. He had a heck of a game.

Weber lost because of
1. Poor FT shooting.
2. Bad decisions on fast breaks, there were three instances, two at the end of the game that could have gotten Weber within 5.

All in all it was a decent showing by the Cats tonight. They need to get their offense going though.

A 9 point loss on the road to a nationaly ranked team isnt bad, especially considering Weber didnt play thier best ball last night, I'll take it. This Weber team has a never quit attitude, the same attitude they have had all year they get down and fight back, we saw it against Utah State, Utah and Santa Barbera Seattle and even Montana Tech. Although we are 5-5, this team will turn out just fine, we have a rough schedule this year, and now the team has to play 3 road games in 3 days, we will see what this team is made of Monday tuesday and wednesday.

It was a good game. UNLV looked really good, they were very quick on defense and double teamed lillard every time he touched the ball and even still we had a chance to win. I was able to make it to the game and sat on row 3 with Purpleblood and we recorded some clips of the game which are on weberhops.com

We played a good game just didn't shoot well at ft's but other than that not much i can say that we should have done better. unlv is a poor shooting 3pt team and they had their best night of the year. also, nothing we could do about their center hitting 4 3's in a row.

everygame this yr has been winnnable which isnt' something we could say the last 3 seasons.
