Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I voted 8, with loses @ Fresno St, @ Brigham Young, and @ SUU. I just really feel that this schedule gives Weber a chance to have a great year. Only thing that makes me nervous is that O Line, and to a lesser degree, the coaching.

This looks good to me.

If by some miracle the Cats can go 5-0 at home then they will definitely be headed to the playoffs. HOwever, this home schedule might be too much. The Cats really need to fill some holes on the DL, especially at tackle.

I didn't think UM was going to win in Ogden before, and now after losing their starting QB, I really don't think they're winning that game. I don't understand why UM is getting picked so high. Besides all the shit that has happened in Missoula this summer, they lost 15 starters, including 9 on the defensive side. I could see Weber losing to E Wash, Poly, or McNeese before I see them losing to UM at home.

This year is a total mystery. Weber will have a great year or a crappy year (I know this is stating the obvious).
The team has talented players. The biggest question mark is the coaching staff and how the players respond to everything that transpired over the last 8 months. Will the O-line hold up over the year? Etc...
So, it is hard predict - Here is my optimistic prediction followed by a pessimistic prediction.

Finish the season with an 8-3 mark and host a playoff game. Sears has interim removed from his title.

Finish the season with a 3-8 mark. Search for replacement head coach begins.

What will make the difference? The game against EWU will be the tipping point for this year. Like old runner says, the momentum will get going one way or the other after that game.

:+1: Perfect assessment Waldo.

I think our game vs McNeese State will define our season.

McNeese is no pushover, they are gonna be good this year, but if we lose to them, it's gonna be a long season. I still think our hardest game this next year is gonna be @ SUU (I dont even count the FBS games) we came a turnover away from beating Eastern @ Eastern last year, we play well vs Montana at home, well lately at least, and even though I think Cal Poly is good, I dont think they will beat us. Most possible home loss will come from either Eastern or McNeese

I see us going 7-4 with a home slip up, but 8-3 and 9-2 is not unrealistic.
What I think happens.

@ BYU L
McNeese State W
Eastern Washington L
@ UC Davis W
Cal Poly W
@ Sac State W
@ SUU L

Come on Weber lets make option 2 a reality.

too many changes for me to be my usual overly optimistic self. then again rahe came in when we were rock bottom and with 10 new players won the big sky. but i know nothing about our new coaches.

7-4 is a definite stretch, but I think the Cats can do it. To achieve that mark, they have to protect their home turf. Weber can't afford to lose any of their home games, which is going to be really tough. This might be the best home slate we have seen in a while. I for one plan on going to ever one of our home games. Now whether or not the Cats win them, that is yet to be seen. My biggest area of concern are our lines. I was worried about the OL, now I'm paranoid that the DL is definitely lacking. If the coaches can figure out the line issues, or some newbs can rise up to the challenge, then I'm thinking the Cats will be fine. But there are a lot of ifs. Worse case 4-7.

Lets not kid ourselves here, Weber's team has the potential to be really good. We have most of our skill players back, I am sad that Collins and Shufford aren't coming back, but the Cats have Booker and Tuckett back and have Walker, Kehano, Nakamura, and Johnson back. We all know how good Hoke is, and how he is the most under-rated QB in the Sky. He played most of the season with a bad throwing arm and still had one of the best individual, all-around, seasons at QB in Weber State history. Our defense returns a lot of experienced players and we have Stutson back for his SR year which only gives the Cats that much more depth, yes the DT position is an if, but only with back ups. Adam and Connor are both back and are both excellent players. It would be nice having some back ups with experience, but... The LBs, are solid and only get better and our safeties and DBs all have experience and will only get better. Jankow at TE and with Tytan playing at Center our line should be decent. Land, Timeteo, and Robinson all could end up being 1st team all-conference. Not a bad start for the Cats.

I was snooping around the board and came across this thread. I think it is interesting the level of respect being shown to the T-Birds from Weber fans, where as in the past it was penciled in as a guaranteed win. Here is my prediction for WSU this year. To start off, the season is rough with 2 guarantee FBS games. With McNeese, Poly and Eastern at home for you, I think you take all 3 games, in addition to beating Davis on the road. I'm not sure how Sac will be this year, so I can't say one way or the other, and having them at their place makes it a toss up game. I do think the TBirds take 2 in a row with a win in Cedar this year, but I think you will finish with 3 wins against bottom feeders ISU, NCU and a very down MU. I'm calling a 7-4 season, and possibly 8-3 if you can handle business in Sacramento. I'll stop by in a few months to talk a little smack leading up to the game, but start planning now to check out Sunny Boy's BBQ for lunch and Mike's tavern for after game "refreshment". They are both within a 3 minute drive of the stadium.

Thanks for the heads up on good places to eat Tbird. I hope to be at the game that day and look forward to a long rivalry between WSU and SUU :-D
