Jeremiah Jefferson out of Dallas Texas. Biggest recruit in decades for Weber State. He has four star potential. This class has big time talent in it. Imagine if he and Sherman both end up signing with the Cats? Uh, YIKES!! Jefferson is a highly recruited 2 who would be a major impact player for high a major programs.

He seems like a solid player. Lots of mid major and some high major schools are after him. Its hard to gauge what offers he has currently. I love the Texas connection! Add this guy and Omar and Oh ya!!!

can you provide any links? i would like to take a look. is he bigger than trez n hajek or danko? those are the 3 biggest boys i can recall in the past 15 yrs. how tall is jefferson?

All I know is that he has some big schools after him and that Rahe and Co. are bringing this kid in for a visit. He looks like he is pretty damn good. He has great ball handling skills, can drive to the basket, hit the outside shot, and has great court vision. Some of his passes look unreal. He is pretty impressive in my opinion.

I have seen this kid on all the recruiting sites and had no idea we were after him. He would absolutely be our next NBA player if he chooses to come here and be taught by Coach Rahe and the staff. He'd obviously have to work extremely hard as well, but I can tell he has the work ethic. Easily a 4 year starter and one of the best players in Weber history. Please please please be a Wildcat!

I found this little bit of information on him. Scroll down about half way through the article. Seems like he is a little under the radar, but should be a high major recruit. This was posted July 10th and it says his offers are from Weber State, SMU, UT Arlington and Louisiana State with interest from UConn. I would be very excited if he became a Wildcat. The fact that we have several great players from the Dallas area already gives me hope.

This young man is a very good player and would help make us a stronger program. However, our program is already strong. If we get him to join us, great. If not, there are others who can fill the bill as well. I really, really like where we are at right now.

Come on, November!!

Despite never winning the Big Sky, I believe Damian Lillard has done a lot for our program, he has opened the eyes of a lot of young players who now are beginning to realize you dont really need to play for the Big Time school to make it to the next level, all it takes is some commitment and some hard work on thier part.

We are getting players to come to Weber that we have never had at Weber before. I would love to see this kid become a Wildcat.

Wow!! This kid would be a great pickup for the Cats. He is the real deal!! He would transform our team from Mid Major to High Major!! That is how good he is.

Don't get too carried away. Mid-major, high-major, low major, they are all fairly ambiguous terms. Most consider Gonzaga to be a mid-major, and yet they are a very good program at a small school. High-major is more related to the reputation of a conference than anything else. Utah would probably be considered a high-major, and yet they are a crappy program. Those designations really don't mean much.

Yes, he is a good player. We will be a great program if he comes or not. That is all I am saying.

If he signs with us, I just hope that he and the rest of us work hard to help him reach his potential. :thumb: :thumb:

one of the problems I had with Coach Cravens was a statement he made on the radio about Weber State fans having too high of expectations. He said we aren't Duke or Gonzaga. Granted. We aren't. But nothing says that we can't expect to be in the NCAA tourney each year, or at least compete for the Big Sky's spot in the tourney each year. And who knows, get into the round of 32 every once in a while.
Even though Rahe has not got the Cats to the tourney as often as I would have liked so far, his teams have always been in it. And with the recruiting he is doing I expect the same (or better) to continue.

Oldrunner likes to pick and choose which recruits he his hot on. He was super stoked about the possibility of Juan Anderson transferring and talked about how it would transform the program. If he isn't so hot on the recruit, no big deal the program will go on. I think his intended point is that we are getting so many looks from quality, high levels kids that if it isn't Jefferson it will be someone else.

Here is the bottom line about our current status: we are leaps and bounds ahead of the other Big Sky teams in recruiting. We are getting looks from guys that the school has never had in the past. We are a very strong program and the recruiting trend is going upward. WE NEED TO TRANSLATE THE GOOD RECRUITING INTO WINNING THE CONFERENCE AND TOURNAMENT.

If we start saying we will be high major with the signing of a single recruit, we begin to sound like that Northern Colorado idiot. I like the excitement! Can it be basketball time yet. It's pretty sad that the only real excitement surrounding our football team is that a coach ripped off a players ipod last spring.

You hit the nail on the head. To me, it's all about expectations. Both on our part and on Jeremiah's part. If we sign this young man, and I hope we do, I would like to see him come in with the thought of working hard at this level to get to the next level. I just think that if any player comes in thinking that they already have it made, they will never reach their true potential. Talent is a big part of the equation, but attitude and expectations may be bigger.

We already knew it, but now the national media is starting to recognize Coach Rahe as a bad ass recruiter.

Randy has told me that they sign a high percentage of the kids who visit. It has made them very careful about who they invite in for a visit. Once they see what we have, it's an easy sell. We really do have a lot to offer a talented young basketball player. We have great facilities, a great campus, a great community, outstanding fan support, a strong basketball tradition, and every NBA team in the nation visiting within a stone's throw from the Dee events center, several times a year.

NBA scouts and official are in our arena for almost every game. How many programs around the country can say that? :thumb: :thumb:

Great Story!! Nice find SWeber.

I hear that we have a great chance to get the guys that Rahe and Co are pursuing. From a great source, the team up north is having a hard time staying caught up with us because those recruits are putting us before them on their top lists.

Are you talking about the short drive to the north woods or the long haul to the frozen tundra?

They would, likely, both apply in this situation.
