Funny clawman.

don't think this storm will interrupt the game but we're all a bunch of pussies these days so who knows.

I’d almost rather just take the payout and call it a day.

Feel that. Asking this team to travel and play a juggernaut borders on abuse but they aren't going to get an opportunity like this the rest of their careers. As a player, if you make a single play in a game like this, you'll remember it the rest of your life. The wins will be personal ones.

It is a great opportunity and good talking point during recruiting visits that EWU tries to book dates at the highest levels of college football.
What happens if EWU flies there and the game is CXL'ed. Who eats the travel costs? If the game is canceled due a declared state of emergency by the Governor is there still a payout?

The contracts become a mess if the game is canceled. If Florida wants to cancel for safety reasons, they pay us. If force majeure is declared voiding the contract, they'd likely only pay a small amount. Given Florida's notorious weather this time of year (Idaho went through this same situation a few years back), I'm sure there is a pretty heavy payout to void the contract even if a force majeure situation occurs.. but I'm sure it is still far less than the $600+k the contract calls for.

This is language I use frequently, and after typing this, I realized most people probably don't know what force majeure is... Force Majeure is the "Act of God" clause in a contract which basically stipulates remedies if a contract cannot be satisfied through no fault of either party. Example, if General Motors had to deliver 100 new cars to Enterprise Rent-a-car by October 1, 2022... but an earthquake shutters their manufacturing facility in August, they could invalidate the contract because an event occurred that they would have had no chance to prepare for that caused them to fail on their end of the deal. In other words, it wasn't their fault they didn't live up to their contract, so they can't legally be penalized for it.

Here's where it gets dicey, Florida has hurricanes all the time. It's not like a hurricane this time of year is unprecedented. Therefore, this may not apply for force majeure, or at least was predictable enough that Eastern would have already established a remedy for this scenario beforehand.

Looks like game is being moved to Sunday...per 24/7sports

Well, it's tracked well south of Gainesville and is in the Atlantic now. Full speed ahead. Will be quite an opportunity for Eastern to show out given the games coverage on the SEC Network now as well as ESPN+. It'll be nationally televised.
