I know some of you older Weber State fans remember...

...Kelly Golob. Golob, Boykin Jr. and Sir provided some really fun teams to watch in Flagstaff. I shouldn't be getting excited for college hoops yet with football just starting.

Bottom of the article references Bruce Collins as the writer's most valuable Weber State fantasy league (stats) player. Thoughts?

The reason I posted this is there is far more basketball interest from you guys than any other fanbase in the Big Sky Conference. Not meant to step on toes by putting up something "non-WSU" related.

My #1 WSU fanatsy player would have to be Willie Sojourner... My starting five would be.

1. Jermain Boyette
2. Damian Lillard
3. Bruce Collins
4. Stan Mayhew
5. Willie Sojourner

Next five:
1. Eddie Gill
2. Bob Davis
3. Harold Arceanux
4. Rico Washington
5. Richard Smith

Third string (YIKES):
1. Ruben Nembhard
2. Jimmy Watts
3. Al Hamilton
4. Gene Vischer
5. Shaun Campbell

you came to the right place, doesn't matter what time of year it is ill talk wsu hoops til im tired...we are the only forum with more bball posts than fball in the big sky.

those were some great NAU players...sir lead the nation in 3pt i believe golob was up there too, i think both rank the in big sky for 3's.

ive never felt so bad at a college bball game as when i saw nau lose the 2007 title game in ogden, it was very exciting for weber but i felt so bad for boykin, you should have seen ruben jr's face, there was some pics of it, i could go find it but its really sad honestly. nau was so good and so close to the tourney 2 yrs in a row and should have been there, that was his last game as he graduated.

then it happened to us these last 2 yrs so i can really understand now. in 2005 and 2006 i thought im glad not to be an nau or psu (both hosted and didn't win) fan because weber is automatic when hosting. then 2009 and 2010 happen.

i hope nau can get back to how they played minus these last 2 seasons. we had some really fun games. i think baldy might have a great team this yr with cameron jones and a little bit of an older/experienced team.

D'oh! It probably would have helped to post a link to the article. Here it is:

CatCat - One of my good friends knew Ruben Boykin while working in Flagstaff and said he was a stand up guy. I think I was crushed more when that team lost the Big Sky Championship than from either of the two NCAA tournament losses. The loss to the Grizzlies in Flagstaff stung pretty bad, though. Taking the train to Portland and watching NAU lose in person to Portland State kinda stunk too. Thought for sure I was gonna get stomped on the light rail when I got on with about 75-100 PSU students but it ended up all good. Even the sad memories of fandom have some fun aspects.

I remember Steve Sir, I used to cringe and close my eyes every time he shot a 3

That kid could shoot the 3

Ross Land and and the giant, I believe McClintock, were fairly formidable opponents. Kyle Landry was another NAUer that I loved to hate, but had immense respect for. Land was perhaps the smoothest player I have ever watched. He, Danny Sprinkle (MSU), and Jimmy D (Weber) were all cut from the same mold. But my favorite NAUer had to be Boykins. He was a gracious player. He always gave it his all and you knew he wouldn't back down.
