What happens if Bolomboy has another year like last year? He seemed heads and tails above the rest of the BSC when it came to big men. Maybe I have a different view watching from afar, but if he continues to play like that could you see him pulling a Stucky and deciding to go to the NBA early? Is he actually good enough to do that? Like I said, I only watched from afar and saw him live 3 times. Any input is appreciated.

ps... BASKETBALL IS BACK

Now that I'm looking at some stats I'm a little surprised. I could have sworn he averaged more than 7 ppg. Wow. He was just a force in Missoula, that's for sure.

Joel is going to be a great player, but he's not there yet. His skills are very raw on offense and his basketball IQ is growing, but not NBA level. He's the kind of player that really needs to stay at Weber State and allow the staff to develop him.

Anyone that advised Joel to look to leaving early would do him a major disservice. The BYU game showed that it's going to take some time. He's smart enough to know that.

joel is legit, son. i dont know the first thing about nba but i do know he will be better this yr and he has gained 15 lb. he will have plenty of time at weber to prepare for nba and gain another 50 lb. lol.

stuckey is probably not comparable. he only ended up at ewu because of grades. he was a prop48 so he had to sit out as a fresh or go play non DI. he went to ewu and sat out then played 2 seasons and left for the pro's at age 21.

when was the last big sky big to the nba?

What you and the rest of the Big Sky should worry about is the extra muscle he has put on this year. Physically he has all of the right tools. It is going to take time for his offense to get there. He also gets the benefit of teams doubling Tres and he is free for the rebound or dunk. I do think there is a possibility of Joel leaving early but it is not real high right now.

By the end of the season you will know all about our freshman PG Jeremy Senglin. After one game I am predicting that he will be the next Weber player drafted into the NBA and will likely be as an under classmen. This kid has all of the skills and looks completely comfortable running the point guard position. I don't remember Lillard looking this good as a freshman,

Dan McClintock 7'0" (Northern Arizona) was drafted the 24th pick in the 2nd round in 2000 by Denver. He played a whole 6 games in the NBA.

The Duo of Tresnak and Bolomboy should really scare the crap out of most teams having to face the Wildcats. And then you have to worry about Berry, Senglin, and Richardson. Bolomboy looked uncomfortable against BYU and still ended up with a double-double. He will only get better.

I really liked Martin's progress last year. How is he looking so far?

our 4 & 5 play will be the x factor for 2013-14. we always have good back court and having a superior front court is less common in the big sky. with trez and joel we have the opportunity to be a very dominant team with good health and minimal season foul trouble. im more excited about this team than last yr's.

You saw Joel at his very best last season. He didn't have bigger numbers, because he came off the bench. Although, his minutes did gradually increase as the season went on. You're right to a certain extent, though. Defensively, and athletically, nobody in the conference matches him in the post. That's why he WILL lead the Big Sky in rebounds this year. Offensively (as others on here have already mentioned) he isn't very polished, although he continues to improve and his confidence is on the rise. Tresnak is still the best offensive threat in the conference in that regard.

It would be foolish for Joel to think he's NBA-ready and it would be foolish for anyone to try and push him in that direction. There's no doubt he's very talented but he's a long way from being ready to take the next step. Maybe he's close towards the end of his Junior year but I think he will need all four years and be willing to put the weight on and the WORK in. Additionally, this would be the wrong year as this coming draft looks to be very strong and deep. It will be very interesting to see what Joel looks like next season when defenses aren't forced into keying on Tres-- chances are Joel draws much more attention, assuming his offensive game comes along.

Thanks for the info guys! I definitely agree he (and anyone from mid-majors at this point) would have to be pretty foolish to try and enter this years draft. After watching last night's games in Chicago I'm amazed. Most of those dudes are only a year older than I am, and yet they are NBA ready. Others are just about there as well. Holy crap... Well back to the original topic, I'd personally love to see Joel become NBA ready. For one thing, I'd love to think the Griz won't have to answer for him in the years to come. Our post play just isn't that good. I also love watching BSC players succeed though. Best of luck to him, and best of luck to the Wildcats. Until 1/25, go Griz, go Wildcats!
