I need your help -- biggest ISU stories of the decade

I'm going to blog this weekend on the biggest stories of the decade in Idaho State athletics. I'd love your input. In your mind, what were the 10 biggest stories in ISU athletics in the 2000s? Jared Allen winning the Buchanon Award? The Bengal women's basketball team winning conference titles and going to the NCAA tournament? The turnover of athletic directors? The deterioration of facilities, followed by a series of improvements at the end of the decade?

You name it, I'll consider it and write about it. Thanks!

Brad B.

We had an olympic gold medal pole vaulter in 2000. Financial hardships seem to come and go and hit this program very hard. Six NFL roster spots is a story that has never been told before. Dubby and Babe are stories to consider. The gift to softball from Paffenberg (sp?) is a big one.

The financial hardships seem to be a big story everywhere. Couple that with ISU's extremely successful capital campaign earlier this decade in which absolutely zero dollars were earmarked for athletics...

The soccer program is worth mentioning, including a first round win in the NCAA Cup...

Back-to-back 8 win seasons in football (including a conference co-championship)...

Jared Allen (Buchanon winner and NFL's highest paid defensive player)...

The realization that facilties had hit pretty close to rock-bottom, and attention was finally given to them (i.e. Bengal Village master plan, fundraising...)

Stacy Dragila...

J.A. donates $200K for new weight room.
Tingey gets one of the largest donations from Potato Farmers for Video board.
Big video screen on campus.
ISU hushes the 58K fans in Kentucky
Jared's # retired
Frank aka isusid works his A$$ off!
and last but not least the duo of Jerry and Brad come together again for the great listeners of Bengal Sports!

Natalie Doma, ISU's best women's basketball player in history and who became the Big Sky Conference's leading scorer (and broke numerous other records)...

Games
1-ISU football beats Montana at home in overtime, 2003 (top five ISU football game of all time)
2-ISU women's BB, beat Weber State in semi-finals 2000 (on way to championship) --this game was the best women's game that I have ever seen
3-ISU's women's BB beats UCLA in Reno
4-ISU women's soccer beats Utah for school's first NCAA team victory since 1981
5-Men's bb beats Utah at home, 2008

Players
1-Jared Allen
2-Natalie Doma

Teams
1-2002/2003 football
2-2000/2007 women's basketball

too much misery to mention....

Sorry if it's redundant. I posted this on the football forum, too.

How about the Holt vote? You know, everbody wants to use it but nobody wants to pay for improvements or required maintenance.

How about the 2002 Bengal football team, getting a share of the conference championship. Previous to that, 1981, the national championship year was most recent conference championship.

The women's basketball team's success against powers like Oregon State, UCLA, etc.

How about big donations to the school, J Allen for example...

The loss of a legacy...
Babe Caccia comes to mind
