Idaho State @ Portland State -Thread

That shot of the World Cup REALLY makes me wish we could fill the stands. Can you imagine how loud it would get?

This is a link to a map of PGE Park. You can see which sections are reserved (assigned) seating, and which is general admission. The general admission seats are where you can sit whereever you want. I sit in section 116, and I have the ushers check my tickets at least 4-5 times a game.

The park looks so odd because it is a baseball facility. They convert the field to football use when we play. Luckily, there aren't the dirt areas like where the Oakland Raiders play.

I wouldn't call it a baseball facility.

I have a buddy who used to be a member of MAC. The stadium was designed for football... just happened to not complete the horseshoe they were planning on building. The original 1925 design had luxury suites- something else than fell by the wayside.

Over time, it's been modified for baseball purposes. However, MLB doesn't want the site, even after a major renovation. That's not a baseball stadium, just a stadium with a baseball tenant.

BTW, if we really want to get into the process of overall improvements in Portland, I'm all for putting a baseball stadium proposal on the ballot. Dunn Tire Park in Buffalo would be the model... you'd build to 15,000 seats, and make it expandable to 35K to 40K over a Portland winter if MLB actually comes to town. Anyone up for some petitioning? (Easy for me to make this demand from Idaho)

I hope Idaho State wins. I will take ISU 3 PSU 2 in the baseball stadium if that is what it takes. Thank you very much and GO BENGALS!

I agree with your post...........except in the total other direction

The following was posted on the ISU Board...

Rob:

You and PSUfan have been dropping by looking to start some drama... It isn't the mentality of the ISU faithful to do that.

However, you keep making these timid statements about the game. I'm not really sure where all of this faith that tomorrow is going to be a monumental day is based...

Maybe it's the record of wins against ISU at home.

Well, tomorrow will bring a result one way or another. It pits one of the best offenses in I-AA against one of the best defenses, only allowing 16.8 points per game...

PSU ranked 21, ISU 87

On offense, ISU is averaging 30 per game, PSU 19.67 or 19th nationally versus 75th.

So, if we take ISU's give up of 27.80 plus PSU's 19.67 (47.47) divided by two = 23.73...

And Portland's 16.83 scoring allowed plus ISU's 30 = 46.83 divided by 2 = 23.42

PSU has a .31 scoring advantage going into the game statistically...

However, I'll tell you those numbers are skewed by the UNLV game which totally skews these numbers.

My prediction is ISU 28 PSU 21.

I think ISU will come closer to their average, and PSU will give up more than their average.

As you have said, we will find out at game time tomorrow.

By the way, Portland is a cute town... The field is nice but really odd.

I spent time with RB's Josh Barnett, Ken Cornist, and Turill Engleman on Friday afternoon, and the players are ready for a battle today.

So much for predictions. If you want to give your opinion of the game and why, you now have a basis upon to explain your side of the equation. If your answer is wait until today, we see your prediction is based upon the number of rabbit's feet you've been collecting for this game.

Everyone has a 50/50 shot at being right.

That being said, thanks for the update on Kennett. I have his parent's number, and I'll have to check up on him locally.

The stadium is just an oddity, but it is well kept up.

Here's to kickoff...

Rob:

You take great pics...

Hopefully, you'll get some of Josh Barnett #8 - we're looking for a tough day against a good PSU rush defense, but he will be photogenic...

Great pictures of Kennett from last year.

Well, so much for predictions...

The Viks did a great job of finding and exploiting ISU's weaknesses, while ISU did not do the same.

After Barnett had a field day running the ball, the runs didn't come in a succession that helped keep drives going and getting scores.

The North side of the field sucks more than the rest, with all of the slipping going on.

Tough loss for us, great win for the Viks.

And, as I posted on thebengalden, many thanks to Rob for some outstanding pictures. You folks are lucky to have Rob in your midst. The Barnett clan appreciated your posts.

As for looking bad, losing is bad. We already felt the team needed every win, but now that is even more important.

Good luck the rest of the season, and Rob, I'll be checking out your website. You da man!
