UNCO was a bad loss! What makes it even worse is that we have to wait until Saturday to get on the court again.

Tough when you have the taste of a bad loss in your mouth. Every game from here forward is a must win! Started the year hoping to win the conference. Now it's about qualifying for the tourney!

It's about pride!

Both Bengal victories have been in the safe confines of the Holt Arena. They beat PSU and earlier in the conference season knocked off MSU. What can the Cats expect? Well...we can expect plenty of 1-3-1 zone and some 3-2 zone. Idaho State is lead by Senior Chris Hansen who has had a decent senior campaign. His averages are about where they were last year; however, he isn't shooting as high of a percentage. Needless to say, the Bengals are as good as their Senior guard. If he is on, then the Bengals are a dangerous team. If not...well, they aren't. He is the top weapon. One thing Hansen has done over the past few seasons is save his best game for Weber State. I'm sure we will see it again on Saturday. Weber just has to make sure Solarin and Ezenwa are kept in check.

Four of their starting five average just over 30mins a game with the lone exception their center. Evans will have his team playing tough. Toughness has kept the Bengals in a lot of games. They aren't a good shooting team, they don't rebound particularly well, and don't really share the basketball (yikes...I could be describing Weber, other than the talent differential).

With regard to the 1-3-1...swing it to the corners. Weber has to be on top of their passing game.

I'm not sure that our defense can stop anybody right now. We have a way of making the worst offense look great, the worst post players look great, and the worst outside shooters suddenly hit everything they throw up. We are the softest team in the BSC right now. We made SUU look like National Champions. This team just has no desire to play defense. They have the athletic ability to do it, but no desire. Ron had a team like this, one year, and he finally told them that as soon as their guy scored, they would be pulled from the game. He followed through with that, it pissed a few players off, and then it got their attention. They never really became a great defensive team, but they did improve. :wall:

We didn't play our best game, but still came away with a win. Senglin looked like the guy we have expected him to be. Everybody else played their roles like they should. Bolomboy was a beast when he needed to be. Hill got into foul trouble and didn't have the game that he should have, but all in all, a good game on the road. Now, let's protect our home floor.

Go Wildcats!!

Up here in Poky celebrating at the local Pizza Hut! A wins a win. Clutch 3 by Gittens! Awesome watching the potatoes walk out early. Will say this, Hansen deserves to be first team.

Oh man!

When I was a student, I used to love eating my pizza in Pokey while the ISU fans cried in their beer.

If it's any consolation, I'm at home, after a few mountain dews, waiting to crash on the couch. I'm not sure that I will make it through the news.

Ian Fox was sensational for ISU last night. His absence from the floor kept them in the game all night. His inability to take any bad shots or turn the ball over was huge. I don't know about the BSC, but he was certainly ISU's MVP last night.

Lol Ian Fox!! ISU really needs to worry. They are graduating four starters and virtually all of their offense. It might be a couple of really interesting years for the Bengals.

Any news on Richardson? How bad is his injury? How long will he be out? It looked pretty bad last night.

“We needed to get them spread out in the zone,” said Rahe. “In the first half they were so tight and compact, we couldn’t get any penetration, so we went to a four-out with four guys outside and one guy inside, we diagrammed it.”

It was the first time Coach Rahe has used such a tactic with this team.

“We’ve never done it before,” said Rahe. “I just wanted to see if we could get them spread out. Once we got them spread out, we could really drive the ball, and I thought our kids did a really good job of just moving it and driving it and attacking. That was a big part of the game because we wanted to get to the free-throw line.”

In game adjustment...

Rick Majeras and Ron A. used 4 out offensive sets against zones all the time. In that approach, you are trying to spread the zone out and create driving and shooting lanes. Another approach is to run an unbalanced attack, or flooding a smaller section of the zone with more attackers than defenders, forcing defenders to help and vacate sections of the zone that can be exploited. A third approach is to get the zone out of sorts by using picks and quick movements. McCarthy called it his mixer offence, and that is sort of what it looked like. It created a lot of ally oops.

Because we see so much zone D, we need to look at all kinds of ways to attack them. :thumb: :thumb:
