Idaho State/Weber

We head out on the road, taking on two teams with us in the logjam in the middle of the conference standings. It could have been better for both teams, but both interesting lost to North Dakota last week. Hoping we can get some of our players back from the flu bug, and come home with a sweep this weekend. It won't be easy. Idaho State has shown to be a formidable foe this year and Weber is always tough, and the road is typically not the friendliest in the conference.

Thursday in Pocatello, Saturday in Ogden.

Nervous win for the Viks at Idaho State tonight, 87-83. A conference road win is much appreciated, but being down 16 and constantly turning the ball over is going to give me a big ulcer. Still, an excellent comeback and a great game from the big guy, Edwards, and it keeps us on pace with Montana.

Other scores tonight,

Eastern Washington 81, Northern Arizona 76
Idaho 80, Southern Utah 76
Weber State 80, Sacramento State 64

Viks head to Ogden for a Saturday game against Lillard U. Hollins is still sick, but Orme played tonight. Hoping they still have some left in the tank.

A bit of an ugly win, but I’ll take it.

Some notes:

- Our zone was getting torched in the first half. Tons of open looks for ISU, that to their credit, they knocked down. I think they hit their first nine field goals or so.

- There was some real sloppy play last night. Those lazy top of the key passes that were stolen on two straight possessions in the first half must make Peery pull his hair out.

- Edwards had a great game. Double/double in 22 minutes.

- North was, well North. That guy makes tough shots look easy.

- Hollins energy is missed. I hope he’s back soon.

Well, hopefully we can clean some things up and get the road sweep in Ogden this weekend. Sure would be nice before the three game homestand.

This time, the comeback falls short. Although both Woods and North had their chances at the end, we come home on the short end, 84-79. It would be great if, like in the Montana State game, we jump on teams early and not stop. Hollins is still out, but Peery is extending his bench. Doesn't seem to be much of a dropoff among those who start and those who come off the bench. Tonight, he started both Farris and Edwards.

Other Big Sky scores:

Southern Utah 66, Eastern Washington 62 :o
Idaho 84, Northern Arizona 80
Northern Colorado 94, North Dakota 91
Idaho State 71, Sacramento State 65
Montana 67, Montana State 52

We play in the rental house next Saturday against Sacramento State. We owe them one.
