After 2 of 3 wins on an extended road trip and back home to kick some Bobcat $SS Idaho could be a trap game. They are much better than their record shows.

I would agree with that. This is the type of game we must win, but there is no team in the conference we can just show up and beat without playing well. The Vandals are dangerous. Every team in this conference can beat anyone in the Big Sky on any given night. Idaho gave Montana quite a fight last Saturday night. The game was closer than the final score. We can't look past anybody. Hopefully we put them away early like we did to MSU.

go eags!

Played EWU tough in Moscow. However, they've only won two games since Jan 1st.

EWU playing much better in the last couple of weeks. The schedule is very kind until late Feb when they travel to So Utah and No Colorado.

Five of the last eight games at home. Go 1-2 on the road, sweep at home and they finish 15-5 in conference play. Need to finish in first to avoid Montana in the BSC tournament and hope So Utah or No Colo beat the Griz.

Montana has 4 of 7 games at home. However, they've already played So Utah and UNC on the road.

After tonight, No Colo plays 5 of their last 8 on the road.

15 conf wins "should" be enough to take first place outright.

Good synopsis, but I don't think 15 wins is going to be enough for Eastern. For that to hold, it would mean Montana would have to go 4-3 in their final 7 (recall that Montana holds the tiebreak over Eastern). Possible, certainly, but unlikely.

I agree, Montana likely needs to lose 3 of their remaining conference games for Eastern to have any shot at the regular season title. Using context clues, I think he meant 15 conference wins are required to guarantee a top 2 finish. The OP expressly notes the need to avoid Montana in the tourney (no doubt, since Montana plays great and Eastern plays terrible in that matchup) which is the case if Eastern finishes second. Given the shit performances Eastern has put forth against Montana, our best shot at the tourney is finishing in the top 2 and hoping like Hell someone takes out the Griz before we have to play them again.

What sammamish said is true, that we need to be on other side of bracket from UM. Next step is maybe Idaho St. should be on the other side. UNC, Weber, PSU have all beat UM (so has Montana Tech but they play NAIA and not the BSC) so they could be on same side of UM bracket to take them out before they get to us. EWU has beat all those teams (except for Montana Tech because they play NAIA and not the BSC). So let's beat Idaho(they haven't lost to Montana Tech either because they play NAIA and not the BSC) on Thurs.!!

I like the enthusiasm for Montana Tech, but let's not forget the team that lost to them has ripped us a new asshole--- twice.

Good pt. Dopa, I would say the second game vs UM was less a ripped a new asshole but more of slight tear. It was 82-84 with :36 left (and we led at half) and anybodys game at that pt. unlike the 1st game.

EWU favored by 14.5 tonite. Sure hope they cover the spread. On SWX tonite and also womens team plays on SWX before the mens. Women riding an 11 game losing streak...yikes!!!

Can't watch anymore....i blame myself...last two viewings ..montana at home and this one....sorry everyone. I take the blame.

98, wish you would have shared that earlier I could have been sleeping instead of putting myself thru this torture.

Ouch. Freakin big sky conference. Anyone on any given day....

Well, now it becomes a real challenge. Dropping a home game to the last place team in the conference to (essentially) fall 2.5 games out hurts like a mofo. Even if UM goes 3-3 down the stretch, Eastern has to go 6-1.

This loss shouldn't surprise anybody. First of all, Idaho is better than people think. The Allen kid might be the best player in the league. I love his toughness. And second....we have some studs but we won't beat anybody if we think we can show up and not block out, hustle back on defense, etc. Doing the basics wins ball games. Also, if something isn't working on offense, we need to have a plan B. We get a little one-dimensional on offense sometimes. If we're cold from outside we need to be able to take it to the rim or post up.

go eags!

Eastern did not play with the intensity I've seen in the past until about the last 10 minutes of the game. The Eagles got impatient with shots in the last 2 minutes making some bad shots that may have been the difference in the game.
Idaho played 9 guys within the first 5 minutes of the game and all of the 11 guys that traveled for Idaho played in this game so I assumed coach Claus was planning on a very aggressive defense and it showed. I am impressed with how Claus has a 2 (now 3) win team playing. You would have thought this was a conference championship game.
I does not get easier the balance of the schedule. Portland is tough in their place and the trip to No Col could decide tournament seeding.

Idaho was trying to give the game to us...we just didn't know to take it. Lotta poor decisions and turnover's and Idaho missed all those free throws at the end to give us a chance. I watched and listen to Larry, even he was getting frustrated at the quality of play knowing we were so much better. Looked disjointed almost surreal and @ home to boot. We need to finish strong..real strong..and build the confidence back up!

That game probably cost us a shot at the conference title...key now is to stay a top 4 seed so we get a bye in the tourney. We should finish 2 or 3 in the conference which means most likely UNC in the semis and Griz in the chipper. We do have a tough turn around to now go play at PSU.
