Impressed with Katz

I slammed Katz last year, but I gotta say I like what he's doing with this team. They are a really competitive bunch and he keeps them in games. I love that. I don't know if they can maintain this level of performance but it's good to see right now. Just being a Sac State fan for so long I'm waiting to see who don't make it to the next semester or who tares an ACL. I'm not sure what the locker room is like but this seems like a good group of guys. That said, thanks to Katz and his staff, I'm really looking forward to the next 3 games: Weber at home and SC and Pacific on the road. It's exciting to know we have a chance to beat Weber (even though they handled Utah) and go out and play well with a suitcase.

Great job, Coach Katz. Go Hornets!

Weber is 0-3 on the road. Agreed Katz has done a very good job, the team seemed poised and I actually felt we would score everytime we had the ball.

I think this yr's conf a lot of teams will be beating each other - no guarantees!! I hope my team shows up ready at the Nest.

Katz is a great coach, I just hope everyone stays on his side even when they lose. This is still a long road we have to travel, keep the faith!

Why is it a long road? PSU and UNC are prime examples of how quickly a program can turnaround, and should turn around. Urgency is key and if we take the lets give whoever five years to reach mediocrity than we are still where we started.

I only said it's a long road because "Rome wasn't built in a day." It takes a lot of work to make a consistently winning program. I think it can and will be done.

Katz has definitely turned the program for the better, but there is still a lot for him to prove before I would label him as a “great coach”. He has this team playing well at the moment, it will be interesting to see if he can keep this team competitive all season long and keep the team improving. The Hornets have a tough stretch of games in the coming 2 weeks.

The true test will be to see how he uses the limited success they will see this season and how he presents that to potential recruits. The key to making a serious push in the Big Sky will come down to his ability to recruit. It won’t be easy given the facilities he gets to show off to prospective recruits. With that said Katz has beat “the farm extension” 2 years in a row now so he is doing a hell of a job so far.

Go Hornets!
