Incredible Seasons!

You kicked our butts and arguably got the brightest Conference flag.
We had a season that we never thought would happen, and we play again.

Of course, we have a very young team and your guys are all retirement age, right?

Anyway, congratulations on a great year. Wish somehow you could keep going with us, because really it's been a Weber/Griz season.

We had a young offense, we lose 3 offensive linemen and our fullback is all.

Higgins/Smith/Toone all back.

Defense we lose 8 starters though...

Ok, but yours are two years closer to the grave than our sparklin' youngins. And to add insult, IT'S WA-GRIZ IN '09, BABY!

But then, "You guys get a little too over-impressed with the atmosphere here."

dA FIZZ, You are totally joking. Nobody is OVER-IMPRESSED about WA-Shizz stadium. You guys are so full of yourself that you make me want to PUKE. Oh, yeah a lot of your fans did that on Saturday because you were all so full of booze. If any other schools fans did what yours did, we would be reprimanded by the SKY. But seeing how the commis is from your town, and a TOTAL GRIZ fan, nothing happens.

Da Grizz

hopefully next year there will be no tie at the end of the season and no sharing of a title. I'm sure you would agree that having to be co-champion with anyone leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

i doubt we'll see you next year as i'm sure weber will no longer take buses to Montana. But maybe the year after you will feel welcome enough to make the trip down to Ogden.

It was a good game... TO's and poor red zone execution cost the Cats. UM did a good job containing the Cats and keeping our offense off the field. I will say, if it weren't for Williams foot, Weber wouldn't have been close. Nice Kicks Jon, I'm glad that you will be back next year. I hate blaming the refs...but there were some really bad calls. I don't think they cost Weber the game completely, but they were pretty dang bad. Nakamura's fumble was complete BS and that PI on UM's last TD drive was crap. But...the key factors of the game were, Weber offense wasn't on the field very much, TO's, and UM ran the ball very well (there was a lot of holding, but I saw a few on Weber also that weren't called so they balance each other out) Reynolds is good, but I think he needs to give his line a lot of credit. I think anyone could run for 150 yards if they got the holes he was getting. That game definitely goes to the UM's OL... WOW (no sacks this time either). Anyway, there is a lot to look forward to for next year... I hope Weber's Defense can recover, because our Offense is going to be amazing.

I agree with you about Montana's O-line. By far the best part of Montana's team. They were incredible. Their QB had all day to pass and Tal could have even ran behind those big holes.

JR... well... I guess almost anyone could. Me and Danko would have a hard time...

My final stabs:

Game Day: I have mixed emotions about the Griz students' behavior. On one hand, I was embarrassed by their chanting and actions. On the other, it was on a par with what I've seen directed at us during games that were special only because the opponent was the hated Griz. Bottom line is that I feel badly about those who had less than a sparkling day (not counting the outcome). A day at Wa-Griz should be a gas. So, I'm sorry about that. But for those who took all of that in stride and reported having another great time at the Zoo, hope you make it back next year for more beer and dogs, fun and games. Revenge is over and it's back to normal.

Griz Hatred: Apparently there are more than usual converts to "Griz Hater" after last weekend's game (I had to laugh reading the account of one Wildcat fan who reported having "no reason to hate the Griz until spending last Saturday with a Bobcat fan". Ha!) Well, truth is that we deserve that hatred. Thing is that, unlike how visiting teams bluff about how Wa-Griz will actually motivate them, we really have come to thrive on disdain. It's like bombing London... organizes and tightens us and ultimately creates even more joy in victory, while that Wildcat and Bobcat fan spent the day together spitting venom at the same damn team that ended each of their seasons, just as it has so may times before. And should anyone question the impact of rabid fans, look to Smith's comments about the last Wildcat appearance at Wa-Griz:

I don't think it's right we had to play here. I don't think we should have played at our place, but maybe at a neutral site. I don't think we could ever get momentum with their crowd going.

We've attracted hatred for more than just cheering, of course. I'd resist being a part of such a swaggering overly zealous Griz fan base were it not for how I've seen that play out when, for instance, our most hated foe makes it to the playoffs. When the Bobcats were in last year, each time the PA announcer reported that the Cats were ahead, great cheers erupted from Wa-Griz despite word of our lead being boo'd in Bozo. You got cheers against Cal Poly because you are Big Sky. And for other reasons, of course, but if you'd played anyone else last weekend, the Griz would have been your biggest supporters. Hey, I'll be a part of that!

Bob or Mods,

Can we lock this thread...I think its been beat into the ground.

Enough about the UM game already everyone.
