Interesting poll

I stumbled upon this; very interesting stuff from Massey. All of the top 500 college football teams, regardless of affiliation, are ranked. This includes JC, CC, Canadian, and Mexican college football teams.

NW Missouri- D2- are ranked 46 overall. That's 12 spots higher than North Dakota State, the top ranked FCS team. Eastern checks in at 82, which seems pretty damn good. We're the third highest FCS team behind NDSU and James Madison.

The highest non-American team is Laval from Quebec, at 156. That's just three spots below Montana, the nearest Big Sky team.

What's interesting to me are Massey's defensive and strength of schedule ratings for this year's team (113 and 140 respectively). A modest improvement in our either would have Eastern rated around fifteen spots higher.

Preseason polls, are they just based on reputation or to what extent have the voters researched each team?
IMO, mostly just interesting reading but not much better than throwing darts.
