The game with UNI in Cheney will be the first time Eastern has played a home game against a D1 opponent not from the current Big Sky Conference in September since 1999, when Eastern opened with a home game against then-FBS Idaho.

If you were to disclude Idaho, since they will be a Big Sky member next year, you'd have to go all the way back to 1996 against Texas State.

This will be only the 10th home game in September during Beau Baldwin's tenure (this is his 9th season). Beau Baldwin played two September home games in each of his first two seasons, meaning that Easten has only played 5 September homes games since 2009.

During Paul Wulff's 8-year tenure, Eastern played a minimum of two homes games in September all but two seasons, while once playing 3.

Beau Baldwin has only had one season with 6 regular season home game. In 2011, Eastern only played 4 at home. Eastern played 6 regular season homes 5 times during Wulff's tenure.

At first, I was really confused due to the home opener with Sam Houston State in 2014 when we kicked off college football, but then I realized that was in August. Awesome statistics. Thanks for sharing.

Also, that 1999 game at Albi with Idaho was the last time Eastern has hosted an FBS team. I believe Eastern has only played three total home games against FBS opponents, all at Albi... and two were against Idaho (mad props to whoever can name the other FBS team to play Eastern in Spokane; if you don't know, feel free to fashion a guess).

Long Beach State - I remember the sportswriters at the paper saying how much of a mismatch this was and some had us as 49 point underdogs and we came out on top 20-17 back in 82 or 83

Outside of BSU, and UNR (neither of which were 1A at the time), I don't believe we ever have. Pretty sure the Longbeach St. Game was in CA.

I remember beating them a couple of times in the 80's and one was at Joe Albi, I believe.....

We beat them 20-17 in 1983 in Long Beach, CA.

Hmmm, just looked on their schedule history and it said Spokane, WA in the notes and on EWU's schedule history it has S (which I think means Spokane)

Right on. Football Data Warehouse has it messed up, then.

Yup. Eastern beat Long Beach State in Spokane. Beat them once in Long Beach as well.

You have earned your mad props, good sir!

As much complaining as there is about scheduling, and not without reasonable justification, mind you...I've got to say that our games in recent years against truly tough opponents, including our FBS money games are some of my all time favorites. What a hell of a game!

And once again, what type of schedule is truly attracting the players that come to our team? Since many aspects of the stadium, the nightlife in Cheney, and China Buffet aren't necessary the reasons some of our solid recruits are coming, I do have to believe some of it is playing top tier competition, instead of cupcakes. Just my opinion, but winners want to test themselves against the best. I understand both arguments, but I think this Eagles team we saw tonight can, and will compete with anyone. Instead of starting out behind the eight ball, we have and FBS scalp, and a good one from a P5 conference at that. I think that is plenty of a head start on the rest of the field.

Best FBS scalp of the year so far? Albany beat Buffalo, Richmond beat Virginia, and UNI beat Iowa State.
Washington State is by far the highest ranked of the four in the Massey Composite.
