Interium athletic director

Anyone else think it is a little odd for our president to go down to Texas to get an interium AD that has no attachment to EWU? Why not have a current staff member act as interium AD?

Yes. Very odd.

Sorry. I’m failing to see why this is a bad thing? Did anyone read her resume? It’s quite impressive. And a very extensive background from all faucets; like fundraising! She was even a coach who took her team to Sweet 16 and Elite 8 appearances, that’s not easy!

If anything, doesn’t having someone like this send a message that our President is 100% on board with athletics?

Only time will tell, and I hope you are right.

I don't think anyone is questioning her resume, but rather the "interim" tag tied to it.

In case any of you missed this, I would encourage you to listen. It’s about 16 minutes long. Lynn is interviewed by ESPN 700, from Friday afternoon. It’s answers some questions that I think Eagle Nation is wanting to know.

I listened to it all and I really liked what I heard.
Not sure if anyone read the article in the Spokesman today, but it sounded like Chaves leaving was determined a LONG time ago and that lack of fundraising was the big issue with the President.

This is what I was told on the subject as well. The donor relations had been handled by Chaves' employees (of which he has far more than most other FCS-level ADs) and he wasn't actively involved in fundraising. I think he saw the writing on the wall and took off.

Bill mentioned that he had "thrown his last pitch" about a year ago on the AD podcast when they hired the Phoenix Philanthropy Group to fund raise for the stadium. I have a feeling that is about the time that the president started going down this road with him. The Spokesman article made me really appreciate where Bill has led us... But maybe this shake-up is a good move for both him and the university. He is going somewhere that will pay him more, has way more D1 sports (including hockey), much larger budget, and is a flagship university. EWU will continue to reap the benefits of the championship culture that he created and we may get an AD who has other strengths to bring to the table- like fundraising. Bill got us off of Earth and into outer-space, now lets hope the next AD can get us the rest of the way to the moon! :thumb:
