Is 12,000 possible? Have we ever sold out?

If there ever was a time it's tournament time, with #1, and Frank Session.
In 2003 we had 5 games over 8,000 in attendance at the DEC, 4 of which were over 9,000, and 3 of which were over 10,000.
BYU 10,820 (W) 75-69
Eastern Washington 9,621
Northern Arizona 10,210 * Because of the attendance at this game, I was surprised the Championship wasn't sold out.
Semifinals vs. Sac State 8,114.
Championship vs. EWU 10,121 * this was a great game, refs gave the crowd/team a T, and sent Eastern to the foul line.

I really, really, hope the athletic and marketing dept.'s are in overdrive with one attainable goal in mind. 12,000, is it possible?

1995
Semifinals vs. ISU 7,157
Championship vs. Montana 7,189
1999
Semifinals vs MSU 7,217
Championship vs. NAU 9,683

Im not sure, last year we had 1 conference loss and in the semi final round vs MSU we had like 5,000 fans, I dont know why the numbers were so low, but that was ridiculous.

5,162 How did this happen? Weird.
I didn't know whether to be more disapointed in the crowd or the game, and then Bynum topped it off.

It all dissapointed me, the game started and I looked around the more than half empty arena then I looked at my dad and said what the hell? To make it worse Bynum dunked on Davis and then to make it even more worse we lost. I was really upset that day.

I thought there were 11,308 at the 2003 Championship game... Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time that I was wrong.

I've only seen the Dee filled once, and that was when Pres. Hinkley came spoke at a regional conference. It was for, I think, four stakes (there are well over 25 stakes in the Ogden area), and the place was packed. Every single seat was taken, they had to put out extra seating on the floor, you couldn't even sit down in the entrance areas. The Fire marshall had to lock the doors to keep people out. There was well over 15K there that day.
I kept wondering to myself, why none of the these good Ogdenites ever support their local university. I actually talked to one couple, who said that they had lived in Ogden their entire lives and had never been to the Dee. How is that possible?

I think the biggest problem is that the information isn't being distributed, i.e. marketing is pretty bad. I know thats the third biggest issue on campus, after perception/attitude and apathy.

I have often thought somewhat about this type of situation. Alot of people don't think that we could get 25,000 fans for a football game. It's funny becuase when the Lindquists have the fireworks at the duckpond, they estimate anywhere between 70-80 thousand people attend. That's alot of people on campus!!!

Last year I called and spoke with Coach Mac right before the firework show and suggested that the football coaches and players set up a booth or wear their jerseys around handing out fliers for season tickets and the football schedule. Unfortunately that takes some prep. time before hand and it was like 2-3 days before the event so it didn't happen, but I was surprized that Coach Mac didn't know a thing about the firework show. But if WSU started planning for this event before hand they could have a major marketing right in their front yard.

Is 12,000 possible, yes. Is it likely to happen uh I wish. I'm hopeful we can get a huge crowd for the conf tourney but we just need to get to march 10th!!!!

Reminded of a Steve Young fireside in the Dec in the eighties or early Nineties. Place was a packed madhouse, chairs covered the entire floor as well. The Dee looks even better completely full.

Do they even keep accurate attendance numbers anymore? Last night had to have more than 6400. They don't even scan my student Id card anymore. If we are concerned about our attendance numbers I think a more accurate record needs to be taken.

I'm a student and not in recent games have I been scanned. Ealier on the lady had a clicker to keep tract. But recently I haven't had or seen both. Maybe they keep a total in their heads?

I doubt it. I think they are only counting purchased tickets now... For whatever reason, I don't know. Doesn't make sense to me, then again there are a number of things that Weber does that doesn't make sense to me.

The Crowd vs ISU seemed larger than 6,500, I wonder if it was possible if there was 7k there on Saturday there was a good student crowd there.
