Is there any hope?!

Is there any hope in salvaging some sort of pride with the remainder of the season?! I highly doubt it! The players don't even care at how truly bad they are right now! It's really sad to see that they don't have hope for next weeks game, or any other game for that matter! When your own captains say that they are going to be 0-7 after next week's game, what more can be said?!

yes there is hope. alot of the boys are still giving all they have till the game is over. still trying. they don,t like loosing. after the game is over, yes they feel down about the loss. come practice they will be out there ready to go giving all they have the boys want to win. i don,t know what the problem is i am not a coach. i am a fan and will back them till the season is over. i feel really bad for the boys because i know they really want to win. at least most of them do. go wildcats. with you all the way. don,t give up. fans don,t give up. the boys do feel bad and they do get down about loosing

Realisticly I think the Wildcats have best chance ending up 2-9 for the season (winning last 2 games against Bengals/Bears who are also suffering another bad season). Foresee AD Jerry B. feeling like the ever optimistic Coach Sears deserves another chance with a 2-3 yr contract as head C. Wildcat fans need to get back to lower expectations for football. Back to historical past where football Cats win 3-4 maybe 5 games each season and are satisfied beating rivals ISU & SUU once in awhile. And each fall looking forward to basketball season at Weber State while cheering for the football Aggies, Utes or Cougars. Seems like destiny. :twocents:

Fresno is 4-2, with losses to Oregon and Tulsa - pretty close game against Oregon compared to everyone else and 1 point loss to Tulsa at Tulsa. BYU 4-2 (3-pt loss to Utah and 1 point to Boise). McNeese 4-1 and ranked #19 this week. EWU is 4-1 and ranked #6 this week. CalPoly is 5-0 and ranked #15 this week. Only 'bad' loss this year was a CalDavis - and looks like they played a close game vrs Montana State.

Just a damn tuf a** schedule! Going to be that way in the Big Sky.

"Optimistic" guy or not, and fair or not, unless the team runs off 4 or 5 wins, Sears just isn't the answer to getting this team back in the top tier of the BSC and making the playoffs. Seems like there are a lot of good young players on the team, but recruiting is going to be a key to keeping that going. With his background of getting let go with prior WashSt staff, never a HC before, and this season's record with him as the HC, how in the heck is he going to convince good recruits to pick Weber? Bovee simply has to beg borrow and steal to get a top notch HC - well known and connected, up and coming coordinator, or a previous HC - in place as soon as this season is over.

I believe that all options are on the table going forward. If we decide to keep Jody or not, our coach next year needs to have a 3 year contract for stability and recruiting. I have no idea what all of the options are. I do think that the general public will not have many details about it until it is almost a done deal. It's usually the best processes that bring the best results. The whole country knows who all of the interim coaches are. I'm sure that Jerry gets resumes on a regular basis. All of our players can rest assured that their best interests are the top priority.

I'm impressed with the coaches knowledge of the game and how they represent Weber's program. We were at the Fresno & UC Davis games. My impression of Weber is that the guys play to win. Their backfield and receivers can compete with a lot of teams. The mis-match is the O/D line. It seems that the depth of the O/D line has been the issue. It's probably the hardest position to recruit. Linemen are scarce to begin with. Good linemen are in need everywhere. Good linemen that have size usually end up at the FBS schools. Coach Sears has been put in a tough position. The coaches want to win, the players want to win. They're working hard to get better each week. The close half with Cal Poly (my alma mater) proves that. What all the coaches and players need right now is a pat on the back with a positive word from their parents, fellow students, and fans. Just my opinion.

I'm a high school coach from California. My son (a junior) is interested in Weber State football. He met some of the assistant coaches at a football camp. Very impressed with their knowledge of the game and how they represented Weber's program. We were at the Fresno & UC Davis games. We will be at the Sac state game as we have former athletes on those rosters. My impression of Weber is that the guys play to win. Their backfield and receivers can compete with a lot of teams.   I think our team is doing their best. We are in an extremely tough and deep conference. Good old Lucifer Smith did a dandy job of getting rid of a number of players, including a bunch of lineman, but to be fair, did a decent job of bringing in some decent looking young recruits for the line. If the Cats can keep the nucleous of this team and get a couple of good replacements in the off-season I really think the Cats will be better next year. Honestly, getting rid of the current staff will only hurt the Cats. I say give Sears another year at least or two to see what he can do. There was a lot of attrition during the offseason and now we are in a sense rebuilding. We have a lot of young players who really can play and are going to be good in the future. Once our lines are fixed Weber will be a lot better.
