ISU This Week / Big Sky WBB Update...

After the split on a very tough road trip, the Bengals stand a half game out of the first round bye position with three weeks to go in the BSC WBB standings. They have the 3rd best overall record in the league at 15-8, 7-5 in the BSC. They have played the most road games to this point in the conference and have nine road wins.

This week they've got two home games against two suddenly hot teams in Sacramento State and Portland State. Both of those teams won both of their home games this week sweeping the Montana's.

PSU is actually tied with ISU at 7-5 so Saturday's game is going to be MASSIVE!

And you can't overlook the "run and gun, have some fun, play no defense" Hornets either.

Thursday night tip is 7:05, Saturday is 2:05.

PLEASE come on out and help support these kids who are having another very successful WINNING season.

Now to some huge Big Sky WBB injury news:

No. Dakota's Fallyn Freije, one of the conferences best front court players (especially when teamed up with Lexi Klabo) suffered a badly injured ankle Thursday in the win at Weber. I was told the Weber coaches on the floor heard the ankle "pop" and she was in bad pain. Couldn't put any weight on it. She did not play Saturday vs. ISU. Was moving around on crutches and that ankle was in a plaster cast.

League leader No. Colorado, already down to nine players (one of whom missed most of the year with an injury herself and is now just returning,) may have seen their title chances go by the boards as Savannah Scott, one of the top players period in the league and an MVP candidate appeared to have hurt her knee badly on a fluke play. She had jumped, came down and awkwardly tried to jump again with her leg in an odd position. She immediately clutched her knee as it appeared to have bent backwards. It didn't look good at all. She left the game and didn't return as UNC had a miraculous finish to beat Weber in OT. They now lead the league. Smith's status in unknown.

Updating some of this…

Freije & Scott have not played since the aforementioned injuries occured. NoCo is playing the Scott injury news very close to the vest, calling her status "day-to-day" even though she's apparently been on the bench with crutches. 3 straight games against NAU, SUU, and NoDak is good timing for this, though.

Also… Montana's budding freshman star Sophia Stiles blew out her knee against North Dakota a couple weeks ago. The Lady Griz won that game, but have gone 0-4 since and have allowed a massive number of three-pointers over that stretch.
