Recap of game from ISU sports info:

CANCUN, Mexico – The Idaho State women's basketball team bested Davidson 70-58 in its final game of the 2016 Triple Crown Sports Cancun Challenge at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. The Bengals converted 17 of a season-high 23 free throws and dominated the Wildcats on the boards with a 46-30 edge to earn the win.

Three players finished in double-figures for the Bengals led by sophomore guard Grace Kenyon with a season-high 18 points to go along with eight rebounds which tied for game-high honors. Freshman guard Estefania Ors added 17 points on 6-of-9 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line, while sophomore guard Isabel Vara de Rey added 10 points and four assists.

Freshman guard Saylair Grandon put Idaho State (2-3) on the board early with a layup 24 seconds in, yet Davidson (0-6) responded with a 9-3 run to take the early four-point lead, 9-5 with 3:59 remaining in the first. But the Wildcats went ice cold to close the first and the Bengals took advantage with 11 unanswered points to lead 16-9 at the end of the first.

The Bengals struggled in the second, shooting 17.6 percent from the floor to score just 10 points, yet ISU held Davidson to just nine points on 3-of-13 from the field and went into half with an eight-point cushion, 26-18.

Coming out of the break, Idaho State scored eight unanswered point before Davidson converted 1-of-2 from the line for its first points of the second half. The Bengals' Ors responded with four points of her own for the 19-point lead, 38-19 with 5:55 remaining in the third. A minute and a half later, Ors knocked down another jumper to give ISU its largest lead of the game at 20, 45-25. Both teams scored seven points to close the third quarter, giving ISU the 20-point advantage 52-32.

In the fourth quarter, Davidson applied full court pressure in a fourth-quarter comeback attempt, and the Bengals struggled to control the ball against the Wildcats' pressure. Davidson forced six of ISU's 17 turnovers in the final 10 minutes and scored 10 of their fourth-quarter points off turnovers. Yet the Bengals shot 66.7 percent from the field for 18 points to thwart the Wildcats' comeback attempt. Idaho State held tight to its lead to earn the 70-58 victory.

"Davidson did a good job of pressing us in the fourth quarter, and we made a few mistakes," Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. "But I was proud of how we handled the pressure late. We showed great growth in that area. I'm also happy with how we zeroed in on our shooting in the second half."

Davidson was led by Mackenzie Latt with 16 points and five rebounds while Chloe Johnson added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.
