Just announced:

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team has announced the signing of two Spanish players for the 2016-17 season. Head Coach Seton Sobolewski signed both Estefania Ors out of Altura, Spain and Irene Vicente from Alcala de Henares, Spain.

"We've really enjoyed recruiting and getting to know Estefania and Irene this past year," Sobolewski said. "They both played in a high-level league in Spain, and they should be able to compete for playing time right away. Both young ladies fit in well with our academic expectations as well."

Ors, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard/small forward combo, is a three-time regional championship MVP and earned MVP honors once again following her performance at the Logrono National Tournament. She averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and 11 rebounds per game on 44 percent shooting during the 2014-15 season with Valencia BC.

During the 2015-16 season, Ors played for Picken Claret in the LF2 league (the second-highest league in Spain) averaging five points and three boards in just 16 minutes a game. She's been part of five first-place Regional Championship teams, two fourth-place and one third-place National Championship finishes with a first-place finish at the U16 European Championships with the Spanish national team.

"Estefania is a 5-foot-10 guard who has a good feel for basketball," Sobolewski said. "She has good perimeter skill with good athleticism. In time, I think Estefi could be a very good player for us."

Vicente, a 6-foot-2 forward, has played for both Rivas Promete Junior and LF2 teams. Vicente led Rivas Promete to two Madrid Junior Preferente League Championships in both 2015 and 2016 and earned a second-place finish in the Spanish Junior Preferente Championships in 2015. She earned the Best Madrid Player in 2014 and averaged 11.5 points, 12.2 rebounds and two blocks per game during the 2015-16 season with Rivas Promete.

"Irene is a long 6-foot-1 forward who is a pretty good athlete that works hard, can defend and can rebound," Sobolewski said. "She has a good start in developing her offensive skills and in time she will be a well-rounded player."

Both Ors and Vicente will begin their freshman campaigns this fall."

Note: This means ISU will have six international players this year, three from Spain, two from New Zealand and one from Australia.
