Each day between now and the start of fall camp, the Journal is rolling out one of ISU's top 10 most impactful players leading up to the season.

It starts with No. 10: CB Anthony Ricks

Continuing the countdown of ISU's 10 most impactful players in 2016 with No. 9: Punter Sean Cheney: http://idahostatejournal.com/members/isu-football-most-impactful-counting-down-idaho-state-s-most/article_465977f6-46f0-5edc-a5a8-25c3b2ee8e97.html

Is this the ranking of Players from 10 to 1 and 1 being the best player or is this a listing of 10 players that will have the most impact on the Bengals Team? I know one player that should be on the list but he has not played one down yet as he is an incoming freshmen. He will excite the fans if Kramer plays him as he is the fastest/quickest player on the team? Any one want to guess the name of the player? Hint- he is small and from California and has a nose for the end zone.

Michael Dean
I was watching videos of him last night. He is up to 170 pounds now, and has posted a video of him on his Twitter benching 320! Also, there's a video of him jumping onto a platform almost as tall as he is. Great athlete! Kramer mentioned him on signing day, but mentioned he was too small to play immediately. Hopefully him gaining at least 20 ponds of muscle since then helps with that. Even if he didn't get time as a running back, he could be explosive as a much needed return specialist.
I agree with you UFTC. This kids special!

I'm impressed. I'm a rookie fan here, so I don't know these players, but I like what I read. I am most impressed with what has been printed about our running backs. I do like an old fashioned running attack. IMO, to be a good team you need to be able to run the ball. It sounds like ISU has a lot of good to very good running backs. I know that one of Washington State's best running back is here at ISU. And he's really good, and there is another on that is also real good. If Gueller can throw the ball successfully I think we'll have a good offensive team. Obviously the Defense will be better with the return of Manu and Jenkins. Keeping my hope alive and fingers crossed.

Keep your hopes alive and fingers crossed is good but understand as PBP pointed out we have a very tough schedule. Not to say a tough schedule is an excuse for not having a winning season but we are not expected to do so well according to Big Sky polls and National polls. I and others have been a die hard fan for years and it is not easy watching our team lose almost every game. It is not the players fault for not winning. They play to their abilities and never give up. Keep the faith!

Thanks for your message UFTC. I understand your point of view. It is difficult to keep believing when a team loses year after year. But they had a pretty good season two years ago, and last year the team had a lot of injuries. I'm thinking they'll be back this year.

When you say it's not the players' fault that they lose year after year, who's fault is it? The head coach seem pretty successful before he came to ISU. Maybe it the fact that they can't recruit. Maybe this year they changed that around and have recruited a pretty good freshman class, On paper they look pretty good to me.

I heard that not too long ago, ISU lost a lot of scholarships because of some violations that this current coach had nothing to do with. You don't build a winning team program over night. It takes time. I you never know when injuries are going to hit a team the way they did last year. IMO, I doubt that it's the head coach's fault.

The program was almost shut down by the NCAA when the previous coaching staff left basically for academic reasons. They were limited when Mike took over in the number of practice days and hours that could be spent conditioning in addition to scholarship issues.

Those restrictions basically ended two years ago. ISU also put into place academic / admission standards for athletes that are higher then any other program in the Big Sky and higher than the minimum NCAA standards for athletes.

Not saying that's good or bad, simply stating the facts.

And injuries are always a major factor at the FCS level...this isn't Alabama where the fourth string tackle or the third string linebacker could start for 90% of the other schools in the nation.
