It happened... Fesi Leaving

He will be missed, but it is inevitable that the program will churn a few coaches as we have better success. Honestly, I think it is a poor choice, he could be unemployed this time next year. Next man up. Maybe we can find a gem.

Congratulations to Fesi. That's great for him and his career. Money talks...well, and the chance to coach with family and Steve Clark again lol. I wish him only the best. He deserves it, even though it is byU.

Me...I wouldn't have gone. Security is more important than money. But, he's leaving to become a position coach that's also head scratching. Two more successful seasons, maybe one, he's an FBS OC at a school that has something to play for. With BYU, he could be out of a job in a year and the Y has nothing to play football for except some sort of bowl payout.

No matter, I'm happy for him. Next man up? I think it'll be either a new guy or Brent Myers.

I left a very good job to go work with a cousin and it turned out to be a good decision. Money isn't everything... it will be interesting to see what happens down there. Good luck to Fesi.

Just surprised he’s not coordinator instead of someone who’s never been an OC. BYU is dropping quick and really needs a conference, but I can understand wanting to coach with family. WEber nation will be fine! Congrats Fesi!

Losing coaches in this situation is a compliment to our program. Yes, we are losing a good coach, and yes, we will be rebuilding our offense. Thinking back about it, we were rebuilding just as much on O last year as we will be this year. We were all worried about how productive our offense would be.

We will either be promoting or bringing in a new OC and probably some new position coaches. We will have a new QB, TE, and will be plugging in some new WRs. Our OL will be back and stronger than ever. This is a great time for a new OC to be coming in. Who ever it ends up being, they will probably look like a hero. We really do have some quality depth in the program right now, and it sounds like we will be bringing in a handful of highly talented recruits.

My feelings are not even close to dread. I am full of anticipation for what is to come. I fully anticipate an even better year in 2018 for WSU football. :coffee:

It would sure be nice if Weber could build on its success with stability. It seems Coach Hill is continually having to replace members of his staff. The past four years have been an exciting time for WSU football, and this year was off the chart fun. Hill has done an incredible job turning this program around, to the point basketball has become an afterthought-- amazing! It's no wonder the success and consistency the defense has enjoyed under Hill's oversight. I hope he is able to insert a capable replacement so they are able to continue competing with the best of the FCS.

Honestly, I wasn't totally thrilled with the offensive play calling at times. Other times it was pretty good. We won several games on the backs of our defense. Fesi did a decent job, but we weren't world beaters on offense, just good enough. Looking forward to being even better going forward.

Our defense and kicking game made our offense look better than they really were. Our O-line was okay, but were inconsistant. We need them to improve in run blocking. Our pass game was better than any of us expected and will probably be better next year. Our run game will get better as the O line gets better. Who ever the OC ends up being, they will have all the tools needed to excell. :coffee:

Because why? We have no idea who the QB will even be, and we loose Denby, Batchelor, Satuala, and an All-American in Vollert. Coach Hill has given me faith that his staff will be able to replace key losses but there is certainly concern that it could take a year for the "click" on a reload. The optimism is nice but I'm not sure how you can state the pass game will probably be better with so many key losses in passing positions. They may end up with a better passing QB after the dust settles but I would argue they will not end up with a better decision maker than Cantwell. That is the reason he was so effective and can be attributed to much of the success this year.

I guess we will just have to wait to see how it all shakes out. I may be eating crow, but I'll stick to my guns for now. It all starts with the O line and the run game. Passing gets easier when that is going. Add into it that we have some very talented QBs and WRs waiting in the wings. We will be fine. :thumb: :thumb:

It's been pretty quiet on any O.C. potential replacements. Anyone have any ideas, or see anyone coming on campus?

Somewhat curious as well. Very quite up at the stadium right now.

I haven't seen an official announcement. However, it looks to me like OC duties may be being worked out between Kelly Bills and Brent Myers. Both are well qualified to do the job. I'm not so sure that Brent wants it, but he is certainly more than qualified. Kelly has been an OC at a D111 school and has been involved in a lot of offensive coaching at several schools. I don't think we would need to go outside to find a good OC.

I feel strongly that our offense will hit the ground running next year. :coffee:
