Two FCS programs have axed their HCs; North Dakota and Rhode Island.
I know some of us hornet fans are anxiously waiting to see what happens after the Causeway Classic.
Rhode Island came as no surprise. That program is god awful, and has been for some time. I bet many of their fans lamented the program's decision to reverse their decision to defect to the NEC. They coulda won at least a few games in that conference.
As for us, I believe for most of those on this board, a coaching change is desired. However, as has been talked about for weeks on this board, I doubt a major shake-up is on the horizon. The dual Pac wins and past semi-relevance will probably be enough for coach to keep his job. But, if he looses the Causeway AGAIN, I wonder if some of the more prominent donors push Wanless for his exit.
I'll echo my previous sentiments that he and his staff have reached the celing. I don't see us progressing past a mediocre Sky school with no hope of playoff contention at this point. I'm also scared that if/when he recieves the axe, we won't splash the necessary cash to hire a truly great coach, and will simply settle for another version of Sperbeck. We're in a bad spot, and I want to be able to throw on my rose colored glasses and relax, but I have an ominous suspicion we are in for a long road of dissapointment and false hope.
Doesn't mean I give up. Hornet till I die, and I won't be taking my colors off. (I've been a life long SJSU and GS Warriors fan. I know the pain of loosing, and how to stick it out. Basically the culture I'm used to
