Hi guys,

As I promised this board, you are the first to know that SacStateSports.com is now live.

The site is still a work in progress, but we didn't want to wait any longer with the season starting this week.

Bookmark "www.sacstatesports.com" because we will be posting news and features on the Hornets daily.

We have about a dozen links already up, including our list of top 10 Hornets in pro football.

Also, coming this evening will be a Q&A with football coach Marshall Sperbeck.

We're still getting our staff together, but we're proud to have a former Bee writer, John Parker, working for us.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. I would love to have a regular discourse with this board. And, yes, I have a thick skin. Just be patient with the site... it just launched this morning.

Want to contact me? I have an new email. Reach me at [email protected].

GREATTTT!!!!! Especially after the BEE posting this today (an article about OSU!!!!), stupid AP article...

First impressions are very good! You've found lots of articles that I had yet to see. I'll be sure to spread the word!

Glad to see this go live…but…
Anyone else notice someone missing from the “Top 10 Hornet football players” list. :shake:

Yes, Roberts was the most amazing player I ever saw play for Sac State in person. All pro career in the CFL as well.

We can't all get it right. We'll be adding Charles Roberts and a few others to our "Third Five" soon. It's all part of the discussion.
Thanks for the input guys...
In the meantime, we should have a Q&A with Coach Sperbeck later tonight.

And we took a "mulligan" and put Roberts at No. 5 on the list in an addendum.
Sac State’s rushing leader, former NCAA D-1AA rushing record holder, and a guy who ran for over 10k yards and averaged over 5 yards per carry in the CFL is only good for 5th. :| :?

I can see some logic in placing him 5th. A couple of players ahead of him that made it to the highest level of football and had longevity. Garcia is a legend and HOFer in the arena league. Ricky Ray won a couple of titles in the CFL. Makes for a good discussion.

Good point. Obviously people will have different point of views.

The best WR I've ever seen in a Hornet uniform was Mark Young, transfer from Illinois. Smoked Davis a few times.
When I was a student it was Fred Amey (and he was the only person who made the Moosh era watchable). Then Tony Washington followed him up and now Deadder has a chance to cement his legacy if he can have another outstanding season.

Also, John Farley from the early 80's was one slick RB, drafted very high by the NFL Bengals. On pure talent, might have been the best RB to ever play with the Hornets. I think Rob Harrison was another nifty RB that was very talented. And let's not forget Big John Kirksey. This guy was a beast, played on the Rams.

And technically, maybe you could add Kenny O'brien, the QB great out of UC Davis. He began his career at Hornet Land if I'm not mistaken.
